and harry potter is not only about them trying to grow up, which you would know if you had read the books, you muppet. and yes, there IS love in Harry Potter. not only is there romantic love, there is also the love that harry has for his friends and followers, which is so deep that he even dies (or attempts to) for them. THAT is real love, not some sick relationship controlled by a fantasy boyfriend who won't let you see your friends, who decides to marry you at 18 because otherwise he won't bite you (another perfectly relateable fact about Twilight), and who leaves you basically because of his own selfishness, causing severe depression and maniacal actions on bella's part. so think about your defense before actually posting it.

If the reader gets cought up in the events of the story, the success of that story is sure. The complexity of the Twilight characters is obvious, and furthermore one can see the process of evolution that they go through in the 4 books.

I haven't read the series since the first time, which was around a year and a half ago, so I can't go in depth about this.

So Twilight is perhaps better in the aspect that none of the fans favourite characters died...

From what I've observed, the biggest struggles people encounter have little to do with other people as individuals.
The vampiric instincts is the evil. Resistance is the good. The vampires that resist are the ones who can be trusted, and the ones who don't, can't.

In BD, some human killing vampires are on the good side because the struggle changes. The evil is now interpretation (which in real life almost always causes huge problems). All being willing to assist in clearing it up are the good guys. All those not willing or those who misinterpret are the bad guys.

No character actually does anything evil, but they represent evil aspects of life.

however i know a lot of harry potters diss the fact that they sparkle, i actually found it interesting. it was something new, however minor a detail it was. but other than that, everything was copied.

If you replace all the crucial details, then you'll obviously get a somewhat similar plot. Hogwarts and Quiditch are original creations of J.K. Rowling. Platform 9 and three quarters, diagon alley and all the shops within, the charms, curses, classes, etc... are all unique.
She did not copy the idea from star wars and paste it as it is.
The only book which resembles HP to a certain degree is LOTR. That's it. The same can't be said for Twilight.

EDIT: If you take vague details from anything just about anything will seem similar.
I'm not saying all the story elements are different, but no matter how you look at it, Twilight shares more (specific) similarities with other books of the same genre. All those series listed have different worlds created for them, unlike twilight, which takes place in modern day America, in a real place. Which is kind of boring...and very uncreative.

However, that can be something done well if the care is taken. For example, in "13 Reasons Why" (and amazing book I strongly recommend) the author takes care not to mention enough about modern-day so that the story goes out of style. The main character drives a classic car, audio tapes play a main point in the plot (they're considered old now, still will be in the future), I could go on.

The details are original. I've never read of anything similar to imprinting. the whole genetics of shapeshifting. The vampires were different. A doctor vampire.

There's very little genetics to it, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that an extra chromosome equals life debilitating deformation or a type of autism. Not werewolf.
I'll give you that it's not a real story, but making up "scientifical facts" off the top of you head is a horrible plot device

Why would the offsprin of two beings with a two chromosome difference have the average number of chromosomes?
If you know anything about zygotes and reproduction, it should have the lower number of chromosomes and 2 half chromosomes (both from the same parent so they could not connect) and it would have died in the womb.
