Monsters and creatures in a horror game, movie, show, atau book are the very thing that makes the game, movie, show, atau book scary. It shows us something that is a threat, possibly completely inhuman and unimaginable, that we wouldn’t expect it to be real, but horror makes us believe that it is real, and that is what scares. So, whenever a monster is done and used creativity, I tend to respect the creator and the use of the monster. And there are so many of them, I may have to make another daftar another time. But, for now, I wanna talk about monsters and creatures from… anything that I find to be the most creative and most amazing. Only ten, because the image can only hold so many pictures. With that, let us start this little daftar of ours

#10: Frankenstein’s Monster from Frankenstein

Yep, that’s right. Starting off with a real classic right here. Also, I’ve never read the book, so I am going off what he was like in the 1931 film. Frankenstein’s Monster, named after the scientist, Henry Frankenstein, was created from several corpses Dr. Frankenstein buried to create life through electricity. He does manage to succeed, but in the end, instead of creating life, he creates a monster, named Frankenstein’s monster. Sure, desain wise, it’s not really much. I mean, it’s just a giant green guy who walks pretty slow. Simple, but it’s a very iconic horror movie monster, and is very recognizable like any other horror movie classic. And Frankenstein actually manages to have some of the best menulis for a monster out of all the classic horror movie monsters (All of them are good. I just like Frankenstein the most). Instead of being a murderous monster who is out for blood, he just wants to live a normal life and make everyone see him as a kind person, but he lacks the ability to live like a normal person. That, plus the entire town wants to burn him alive for being a monster. It’s a very tragic sort of character that I love. It’s not a very scary monster that shocks people with appearance atau actions, but it’s still one of the most well created and designed monsters ever, and one of the most recognizable movie monsters alongside Dracula, Wolfman, and the Mummy.

#9: Kaernk from Amnesia: The Dark Descent

The normal monsters that anda run into are scary enough, for a bit. The fear usually comes from not being able to attack them. While not a bad way to try to scare people, I found it to get a bit old after a little while. But the Kaernk, while the same, had an extra sort of scary that the other monsters didn’t have. And that was the fact that it was invisible. Sure, invisible enemies in video games are the complete worst, but I felt that the Kaernk was done right. And how is it done right. Because instead of putting it in a hallway where all anda could do is tell where they are oleh sound like those damn invisible luar angkasa Pirates in Metroid Prime, the Kaernk lives in the water, splashing the water to tampil where it is as it gets closer to you. Hearing the water splash behind anda only makes anda panic and do whatever anda can to jump onto the boxes to avoid getting killed. I cinta it when a game makes anda scramble to get away from danger, and that is what the Kaernk does best. And hey, the Kaernk being invisible is better than it’s real form. Like, what is this? A fish? Scary.

#8: Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth

I don’t care what anyone says about whatever it may be, if Guillermo del Toro’s name is on it, I want it. Anyway, Pan’s Labyrinth was a great movie. A very scary movie with some scary subjects, and it was a movie taking place in World War II that didn’t focus constantly on Nazi’s. Instead, we got something…. Maybe worse than Nazis. Like scary monsters. If anda know del Toro films, anda know that his monsters are usually impressive and terrifying. The Pale Man sure as hell is no exception. Hell, if anda look up Pan’s Labyrinth on google Images, he’s right there. He was in the damn trailer for god’s sake. And he deserved it. The Pale Man is a humanoid creature that has eyes on it’s hands. Silly at first, but trust me, when anda see it, it’s the scariest thing ever. When Ofelia arrives into the chamber of the Pale Man, she accidentally wakes it up, and, though the Pale Man was only in the movie for a few minutes, those few menit were amazing. It lumbers around slowly, screeching as it tries to find it’s victim (In this case, Ofelia) to devour her. It’s just so creepy to see it’s desain and actions, despite it not being in the movie much. That’s the magic of Guillermo del Toro.

#7: Regenerators from Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 is a great game. An amazing game. One of the best games ever made (Objectively). But, as amazing as it is, it isn’t that scary. Yes, it has some scary moments, but none that really ever stick to people as much as anda would expect… Except for one part. The Regenerators are actually quite scary… And oleh that, I mean they are possibly one of the scariest things in gaming history. The first one anda run into is just lying there on the table, limp and not moving. However, eventually, that limp and non-moving creature gets up, and comes right at you. All it does is pindah slow and jitter back and forth. But, when it gets close, it pulls anda in and starts to bite you. And when anda fight back, anda will blow it’s limbs and even it’s head off, but that won’t kill it. It will just regenerate its body parts and come at anda again, hence the name Regenerators. The only way to effectively kill them without using too much ammo is to get an infrared scope to shoot the parasites in it’s body. This was the scariest enemy in the entire game, and everyone can agree, and so do I… and the Iron Maidens were just as terrifying.

#6: Thing from The Thing

What an amazing name that is. But seriously, the Thing is an incredible monster. After sleeping for many years after crashing in the Antarctic, it takes over the body of a dog, which is then killed oleh members that are part of a science research group in a lab nearby. But that dog is only the beginning of their problems. After killing it, the creature inside of it then begins to take over the bodies of the scientists in the lab, turning them into disgusting and horrifying figures that are insane to imagine one to create, including the famous head labah-labah, laba-laba scene atau the stomach mouth scene. So much creepy creations created oleh an alien taking over the human body. And just to make it lebih scary, the Thing is immune to bullets and many other weapons. The only way to kill the alien is to burn them in any way they can. Also, the ambiguous ending at the end is The Shining levels of amazingly creepy. The Thing may be a very disgusting sort of creature, but it’s also one of the most fascinating. And screw the 2011 remake for using CGI instead of traditional make-up.

#5: Colossi from Shadow of the Colossus

Hey, wait a second, Shadow of the Colossus isn’t a horror game. I know, but these creatures are still amazing in so many ways. In the game, a young boy named Wander wants to bring the girl he loves back to life, and he is told oleh a spirit named Dormin that if he kills sixteen giant colossus, he will be able to revive her. So, Wander travels across a wasteland to find the Colossus and kill them. And when anda find them, all anda can think to yourself “I have to fight THAT!”. And yes, anda do. All Colossi have a different ability and fighting pattern, making them all unique in their own way. From climbing up their swords, to making them crash into walls. To jumping onto them and holding on as they fly through the sky, to flipping them over with a water gaizer. It’s incredible. But what I like about them is that they don’t seem violent. They seem peaceful and kind, but anda HAVE to kill them to progress. anda don’t have a choice. anda must kill these peaceful creatures to progress, and killing them is never satisfying (Except with the Celosia. He sucks). In the end, I cinta all the Colossus for their designs, but their peaceful nature (Except Celosia. I hate him).

#4: Gaping Dragon from Dark Souls

For Dark Souls players, the Gaping Dragon may not be the best boss to fight. In fact, it’s pretty easy and the only thing that’s a pain is it’s vomit attack. But, I cinta the Gaping Dragon for one reason. The desain is incredible. The lore of the Gaping Dragon was about a dragon that was far too greedy and was always hungry, until it eventually became this deformed monster. When I first met the Gaping Dragon, I never had heard about it on the internet (Shockingly). So, when I first ran into it, I was not expecting the Gaping Dragon to just pop out and look like…. THAT! This shocked me so much. And I was lucky to experience it. With the internet, anda usually get many things spoiled for you, but I was just lucky enough to avoid hearing of it, and I was met with one of the most terrifying monsters in all of Dark Souls and I’m happy for it… Wish the boss fight was a little better.

#3: Pyramid Head from Silent bukit, hill 2

Oh boy, we were all just waiting for this guy to tampil up. Pyramid Head is a creature representing pain and suffering. I mean, looking at that giant pyramid shaped helmet, it must be horribly uncomfortable. Pyramid Head follows James all across Silent Hill, carrying a giant blade atau a spear, and tries to kill him. And when he’s not hunting James down, he’s violating other monsters around Silent Hill, usually a Mannequin atau two. And there is something involving Pyramid Head being lebih closer to James than he expects, but I’d rather not spoil it here. It would be a sin to spoil such an amazing game and it’s story, so you’ll just have to play it to see just how amazing Pyramid Head is. I would have put him higher if it weren’t for him becoming a sellout in other games and the Silent bukit, hill movies, when he only belonged in Silent bukit, hill 2 for having symbolic roots and amazing story, and the other games he was in was just…. Sad.

#2: Behemoth from The Mist

Everyone knows The Mist for one thing. That ending that everyone wants to burn in a fire. Controversial opinion: I thought the ending was very fascinating and spooky. Anyway, the Behemoth was the best part of this entire movie. When the survivors are driving around to find help and a safer place, they see what the world has become. A terrifying place where bug like creatures have taken over the world and made humans their prey. However, there is one monster that is different from the rest. The Behemoth is the name of this amazing creature. Just like the Pale Man, the Behemoth is in the movie, not for a few minutes, but a few seconds. But, those few detik are amazing. Instead of the Behemoth, this giant creature that could easily kill a human being, attacking the survivors, it just goes on it’s way peacefully, not harming them in anyway. It’s like the Colossi, except, with the mist everywhere, it’s harder to get a good look at this creature. It’s amazing, seeing this creature pindah through the fog. All anda can think of is “What is this creature”? “Why isn’t it attacking them”? “When did Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft do a crossover?” It’s just amazing to see this creature being a peaceful monster in a movie where monsters are threatening to human life. Maybe people can agree with me on that lebih than my opinion on the ending.

#1: The Mysterious Stranger from The Adventures of Mark Twain

Now, I know a lot of people may see this as a strange choice for number one. It’s not the best looking monster atau creature, it barely moves, so it’s movement isn’t scary, and it doesn’t to have a scary lore like the Gaping Dragon atau Pyramid Head. But, it’s the best because of the audience it is shown to and what the Mysterious Stranger says. In this movie, the group run into the Mysterious Stranger, who is also named Satan (So anda can tell that this is a man to trust), who tells the children to make clay people. When they do, The Mysterious Stranger talks about how humans fascinate him, but are also greedy and selfish. He finds it disgusting and kills the clay people in front of them, talking about how he can not do wrong because he has no idea what it is, and seeing how people have no value since lebih can be made. Seeing this man talk about people in such a way is terrifying, disturbing, but also thought provoking. Mark Twain always did make people pertanyaan things, and the Mysterious Stranger makes people pertanyaan what humans do and how they can be greedy and selfish, and this was in a freaking PG film. This sort of stuff being shown to kids manages to still be scarier than most horror films aimed at adults (That’s either impressive for this children's film atau pathetic for the movie industry as a whole… probably both). The disturbing visuals and interesting keterangan as people as a whole are what I think make the Mysterious Stranger the best monster atau creature out there. Well, that should about do it for me here. Take care.

So about a while back, like two years ago, I reviewed The Hills Have Eyes 2009 remake. I thought it was alright. Disgusting as hell and stupid at times, but an enjoyable movie. And that’s when I remembered it’s a remake. I knew there was a film remade, but what I didn’t know is that the original film was created oleh Wes Craven, who made Nightmare on Elm Street. Despite that, this movie was made a few years before Nightmare on Elm Street. Is it as good as Wes Craven’s other classics atau is it best forgotten? Let’s found out.

The film follows a small American suburban town called...

Standing, in the darkness.
Alone, with only your dreams.
Or rather.
Your nightmares.
Could they be fiction?

Chestnut Pines, Washington. A small town out from the lively cities and locations of the country. A town of dying business and abandoned homes. It gets by, but barely thriving. It’s a simple town, but that will change. A nightmare is coming into the town. Nobody will suspect it, and when they do, it may be too late. This is a tahun of something dark. What will happen? What choices will be made? Will they be for the best, atau will they go wrong. The choice is up to you,...
