Chapter 5 ~

Braveleap was eating a vole oleh the fresh-kill pile. The Gathering patrol returned, and Heatherspirit was bristling with anger. "Brindlepool called me a coward! Even Dogclaw and Sorrelheart don't miss me! They're my kits!" yowled Heatherspirit. "You had kits?" asked Ashstone, his eyes narrowing. "Yes, with a kittypet named Diesel. He is as brave as any warrior!" answered Heatherspirit. Birdwatcher, Heatherspirit's mother, had come with the patrol. "I'm staying with my daughter." she meowed. The kucing settled into their nests to rest for the day. Braveleap wish he could rest. He ran off to gabung the border patrol, along with Ashstone, Streamsky, Rainclaw and Gorsefire.

The patrol found no rogues, but they found rogue scent just inside their territory. "I wanna claw that tresspassing crow-food eater to pieces!" growled Braveleap.

The patrol returned and reported to Goldenstar. "Oh, okay. We'll do extra patrols starting tomorrow." she meowed. "You missed Smokepaw, Cloudpaw and Ashpaw's ceremony." she added. "Who are their mentors?" asked Braveleap. Hailfoot was padding past, along with Ivyspring and Cloudflight. It was a Hunting patrol. Braveleap turned his attention to Goldenstar. "Cloudpaw has Birdwatcher, Ashpaw has Stormcloud, and you're Smokepaw's mentor. Smokepaw wanted to be a medicine cat, though." Goldenstar replied. Furzeleaf had moved to the nursery, expecting Gorsefire's kits. Braveleap and his patrol headed toward the fresh-kill pile.
