Severus Snape & Lily Evans Pertanyaan

After calling Lily a mudblood, what should Severus have done to be forgiven?

He apologized, but that wasn't enough, what else could he have done? What would anda have done at his place?

Hum... difficult to say. Several steps possible : Faith had already covered some and I concur with her :
- Stop (at least temporarily) studying the dark arts ;
- Stop associating with the Death Eaters : after all, they were the ones responsible for this mudblood nonsense - even if that meant to have strained relationships with most members of the House of Slytherin for the remaining of his schooling at Hogwarts ;
- Telling her she's right, he was just a fool over that mudblood nonsense - that's not the same thing that apologizing for a slip word. Reason vs emotion ;
- Telling her how much he loved her, so much that he's able to stop hanging with the wrong crowd ;
- At last, proposing her he would marry her as soon they get out of Hogwarts - that would have shown her that he considered a mudblood as worthy as any other girl to be his consort ;
- asking help from Albus Dumbledore who was already Headmaster and who is of course, as everyone knows, a skilled and shrewd matchmaker (in a very Slytherin fashion - only for that talent he could have been sorted there).

But honestly, what do anda expect from a young boy aged 15-17 (lacking the necessary maturity), with a difficult family history such as his, which has problems in opening up, etc ? Real difficult.

Well berkata LadyNottingham! At that time Severus was just a shy and awkward young boy, plus they had such a special circumstance in school....Dark Arts was thought to be an evil subject not a science ,there were immense tension and misunderstanding between Slytherin & Gryffindor...Poor Severus. He had humiliated himself oleh threatening to sleep outside Gryffindor common room to ask forgiveness ----just after he was bulled oleh several evil Gryffindors in front of the whole school!

I think Severus could have severed all ties with that particular crowd he was hanging out with atau well experimenting with the dark arts (even tho i ackonwledge this later benefited snape and others in the future oleh saving lives: harry, dumbledore, katie) maybe talk with Lilly how he really felt oleh opening up more...i dont know really...

I agree with you! I think that Severus used to hide his feelings and this spoiled it all! If he would have been lebih sincere, and told Lily what he was really feeling/thinking, there could have been another story!

if u ask me it all comes down to what we learn from home, school, friends atau whatever, snape's parents always fought and i fee maybe snape may have been abused (who knows) but i cant imagine snape expressing himself freely and openly with his parents if they were fighting like they were ... the only person i see atau ever snape really felt comfortable opening up to was lilly but even then he didnt truly trust himself atau lilly for that matter in admitting how he felt

he could have told her that he loved her. that would made her forget all about that. granted, it may have freaked her out, but, eh. *laughs*

He probably should have friend to get her trust back slowly, working with tiny things instead of full-out BEGGING for her forgiveness. He wouldn't have gotten the friendship they had before back, but it would have been better than nothing.
