What do anda do when anda see a homeless person?

I have a thing where every once in a while I will buy subway gift cards and give them to homeless people. I do it so they don't spend the money on drugs but ACTUAL food

The homeless people here are known to be drug addicts atau not even homeless, they are just collecting extra money. My Mother has friends who have had bad experiences when giving the homeless money/food. One example is she went to buy him McDonald's and when she gave it to him he threw it back at her and berkata he wants money not food.

Ill give them food and clothes not money.

I live in Victoria, BC. A city in Canada. anda go to Downtown Victoria, anda will see a lot of the Homeless, but I tend to walk oleh them, I feel for them but I can't really do much for them. And I won't if they come over to me, begging me for money. Usually I think they usually want money for drugs, smokes atau booze. There are a lot of shelters around Downtown where they can go instead of bumming off others. I'm not cruel, I just can't give my money to them because of those reasons, but I usually do if they have an animal with them cause I wouldn't want the animal to suffer.

I usually see homeless people whilst riding my bike. there was this one guy i remember who was in the middle of the city and he was sitting cross-legged against with his head down and holding a up a small cardboard sign.I remember it berkata something like this. "...I lost my job...I am married with two daughters...i need money...please help me." I couldn't do much at the time since i was trying to keep up with someone but i really wish i could have helped him.
