The word "eleven" comes from the word "endleofan" Over the generations, "endleofan" has transmuted into "eleven"
"End" originally meant "one" "leofan" means "left" atau "leave" atau "left over"
So "endleofan" means "One left over" I think it's from Old English
In Lithuania, they used to (or still do, I'm not sure) count like "ten, eleven, twelve, thrilve, fouleven, fifleven, sixleven, sevenleven, eightleven, nineleven"

Nice, but if they continue it to twelve, thrilve, fouleven, fifleven,,, etc, Why didn't we continue like them? ^^
That's just how it's done in Lithuania. Counting in English comes from Old England there "ten" was pronounced like "teen" so "fourteen" meant "four and ten"
