In all honesty since Kate is the poor pittiful woman with 8 kids, she will probably come out ahead. However, In everything I have seen I think John is a good dad, an even BETTER dad when "she" is no there. Maybe now he can spend his own time with these kids and not be scared of what he is allowed to tell atau teach them. atau dress them in, atau when he can let them speak, atau when they can go outside, atau how dirty than can get, atau what they can eat..... I could go on all night...
