James Garner toplined the original series, about an ex-con private eye who lived in a trailer in Malibu. Shore's take reportedly will stay close to the show's "basic foundation of a private eye in L.A. just trying to make a living." Universal Media Studios and Steve Carell's Carousel televisi are behind the hour, which has a script commitment from the network.
