Well im gonna say Bellatrix, despite killing people she has her own sence of style, shes very independent and takes charge when she has to. yes shes madly in love with voldemort but she doesnt jump of cliffs just to hear his voice telling her not to. Bellatrix also didnt get pregnent when she was only a teen.

I have to agree with your first point. but as for responsibitliy and thhinking actions through i dont think she was thinking when she dived off that cliff or rode that morterbike. as for careing about friends and family she selfishly blows her friends off for edward and hurt her dad pretty bad when she left him in the first book.

My reasons as to why I think Bella is a great model other than she's one of my three favorite characters (I can't say she's better than Bellatrix because I'm not very familiar with the other character).


1) Mature.
2) Intelligent.
3) Will make sacrifices for the one she loves.
4) Shows people that you can love someone before he/she is born (Renesmee's birth)
5) Strong (she's gone through pretty rough events)
6) She doesn't give in when treated unfairly (Lauren, Leah, Jessica, and Rosalie have been harsh towards her...but Bella either ignores some and continues to respect others)

Those traits, to me, mqke a good role model. :)

Bellatrix is by all means, not a good role model. She's evil and she kills people and all that stuff. That being said, I don't think Bella is a great role model either.

I have to agree being a killer is'nt something to be proud of, but once you get past that (or at least i think) i think shes a better role model.

If you get past the idea that she was on the dark side, you have to admit: She was pretty loyal to what she believed in. She went down fighting for what she belived in. I mean, though killing her own cousin, she did it for what she believed in.

Yes, she wasn't (consciously) comitting suicide, but that doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't a silly thing to do. Her reason for doing it was so that she could hear her boyfriend's voice, which, as a role model, isn't a very good reason. Yes, a SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy told her that it isn't dangerous/that it won't kill you. Of course he must be right! I'm sorry, but generally teenage boys aren't a very good judge of what is or isn't dangerous. Even though Bella believed him, the state of the water (choppy, stormy) should have told her to do it another time, or at least with someone else there in case things went wrong. In my opinion (and you don't have to agree with it) it was an incredibly stupid thing for Bella to do.

To understand that Bellatrix is a good role modle you have to look deeper, she has the right idea she just expresses it wrongly... Bella, she lets other people make decisions for her and puts them into action wrongly. And come on commenscense can tell a person not to dive off a cliff.

If people are supposed to look past all the killing, why can't people look past jumping into the ocean?

Looking past jumping into an ocean; she got pregnant at an eraly age. She practically became a zombie over a break up. She blows off friends and family for Edward.

Looking past killing people, Trixy was helping a guy take over the world, she got herself sent to prison, she broke out of prison, she destroyed property, she was obsessed with a guy, she got married to a guy she didn't love, she cheated on that guy.

She helped hold a bunch of kids hostage, she was prejudice.

She rejoiced in death

Sent to prison and broke out = strong devotion loyalty and bravery, she went to prison for someone she cared for. She didn't worm her way out of if like most of the others.

It's not like bella hasn't obsessed over a guy, at leas Bellatrix didn't give him total control and she didn't completely rely on him.

Her marriage was a forced one of course she didn't care for him she never loved him she probably didn't know him well and didn't even want to marry him. She just didn't want to be disowned because to a certain extent she cares for her family.

She held them hostage because she believed they had stole her property. Which isn't much better. Not to mention it shows loyalty towards Voldemort. It also proves she can fight for herself and doesn't just sir there and let others do het dirty work for her.

Once again looking past the evil cause her prejudice shows her willingness to stand for her beliefs no matter what, until the end. If Bellatrix used this for good that it would be a very strong point.

Not saying I support Hitler or the Nazi's but honestly Hitlers leadership skills are something admirable. He was a very good public speaker last I checked that's a good quality. As I said for Bellatrix if he used his talents for good he would've been a very respectful man, it's a shame.

Technically their loyalty to Hitler was respectable looking past the evil intentions.

This is the only time you'll ever hear me insult Bellatrix. She's my favorite female HP character, but a heck of an awful rolemodel. She. Is. A. Wizard. Terrorist.

A role model is a person who's actions should be imitated. Bella never really did anything to anyone but herself, so I'd much rather imitate her.

It's hard to ignore all the horrible things Bellatrix has done and turn it into saying she was strong and independent. Bellatrix is, but she isn't a good role model at all just because of this. She killed her own cousin, taunted and tortured people, set the Burrow afire, was sent to prison for deeds she obviously deserved, and is just plain insane. She's strong, but not a strong role model. There's a difference.

I'm not saying I believe Isabella is a strong role model, but she's better than Bellatrix, at least. She never killed; she didn't want to kill except maybe some animals for food when a vampire. She may not have been strong when it came to Edward and hearing his voice and jumping off the cliff, but she was in love. And love makes you messed up at times.

This debate has got to be the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. I think both of them are quite rubbish role models, but I could never look up to someone so dependent on a man she would become chronically depressed for months and then risk her life in order to hallucinate.
