All over fanpop, on basically every spot in existence, there is poor fanpopping. And there are just some things that happen on this spot that are downright annoying. So I'm just going to get off my chest what irks me, so I can at least say I berkata something.

1. Repeat Picks: Really people, I don't want to answer hundreds of picks about which couple I prefer. atau which character/actor/off-screen relationship/who's hotter. It doesn't matter if the choices slightly differ, the wordings changed, atau the icon are different, it's the same thing EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Try for some variety, take the time to actually think of something creative, that nobody's seen before. Trust me, people will thank anda for it, and anda can personally feel fulfilled knowing that anda created a brilliant pick.

2. Articles: This is something I've been seeing a lot of lately. People will copy what's on other websites (that are already link I might add), and post them as articles. THIS IS NOT WHAT THE artikel SECTION IS MEANT FOR. An artikel is for someone to post their ideas/opinions, atau like many people on here (myself included), fanfiction. I cannot tell anda how frustrating it is to post an artikel then come back shortly after to find it pushed to page 7, oleh copy-pasted articles. When something is already diposting on the spot as a link it shouldn't be copied again. That's just adding useless rongsokan, sampah that'll make it harder for people to find what they're looking for.

3. Behavior: Now I know it's impossible for everybody to hold the same opinion on characters/couples/storylines/actors. But this doesn't mean that people should be flat out disrespectful atau mean. If someone has a different opinion then you, they're not wrong, stupid, atau crazy. While I know that many people don't like season 3 there are people out there that do. There are people out there that like Vanessa, Jenny, Nate, Blair, Serena, Chair, Nair, Derena, whoever. So please just be considerate. Imagine what it's like hearing people being horrible and making fun of your favorit actress/character. Try to remain friendly, polite, upbeat. Nobody wants to fight on fanpop.

4. Ratings: For some reason, recently some people have been rating content low. I can only guess why: for some personal vendetta, atau because of something else. Like for instance, pictures with certain characters in them. But really the way I see it, pictures should be rated based on the quality. If it's a good, clear picture, not a repeat, and the person has added good keywords, it deserves a high rating. If you're not going to do that and it's not obvious what's wrong, at least leave a komentar explaining why, atau just not rate at all.

5. Questions: This is a big pet peeve of mine. Basically, the pertanyaan section is not meant for opinion questions. If anda want to ask people, "What do anda think about Tripp/Serena?" atau "What's your favorit scene from last night's episode?", make it a pick!! The pertanyaan section is for people with straight meneruskan, ke depan pertanyaan that they want answered. It's just plain annoying to see those opinion things pop up in my updates.

So there we go. I'm pretty sure that covers everything I wanted to say, and I can now feel better knowing I at least made my opinions known. And I hope that people actually take these things into consideration the selanjutnya time they're adding to this spot. Think carefully before anda add, because it makes everybody's fanpop experience so much better.

othobsessed92 That was PERFECT...you basically covered almost every issue fanpop has been dealing with lately. The only one missing like bl0ndy pointed out is the lack of/extremely low ratings! Other than that thank you so much for writing this and taking a stand...seriously everyone can learn something from this! p.s i just saw that this is a featured article on the fanpop homepage =D

LittleDancer123 I agree with all of this apart from the point about ratings. Rating isn't just about getting someone a medal, it's about evaluating the content and giving it a mark out of five. It's not fair to say 'rate high or don't rate', because we have the option to rate something from one star to five stars for a reason. For example, if some screenshots got posted that were high quality, but were just episode screenshots, I would probably only give them three or four out of five. Simply because anyone can get hold of them, it's not necessary to 'share' them on Fanpop when there are sites dedicated to posting them. So many screenshots get posted over and over again as they're the easiest thing to post lots of to get a medal. However, people seldom look at them, so it's a waste of space and pushes more interesting images back. Though, if a good quality, obscure photo from the set or off set were posted, I would give it five stars. It's something that would have taken effort to find, and without being shared on Fanpop a lot of people would't see it. I also don't rate everything I look at, either. I only rate what strikes me as being good or bad. If people go to LJ and post a load of icons they've found on there, I probably won't rate them. Mostly because they've made little effort to find them, and are just posting masses to earn a medal, pushing the few icons a fanpopper made themselves back, not to be seen by anyone. Anyway, that's getting a little off topic. My point is, it's okay to rate things low, and you don't ALWAYS have to supply a reason. I think fanpoppers should be asked to supply a reason for posting, as it's too often just about getting ratings and a medal.

TmoVie_obsessed Wow... so many people like my article!!!! AAAH THIS MAKES ME SOO HAPPY!!!!!! Mel, I agree with what you're saying. I didn't even get into people adding specifically for the goal of medals, and I think that was my weakest section. But I think you did a good job explaining it.

iLoveChair Agree with you Mel, but I think Margot was referring to rating content low when the one who's rating don't like the person on the images... that's something that it's happening a lot on this spot lately AND THAT'S NOT THE PURPOSE OF THE RATING SYSTEM. High ratings are based on the quality of the content, proper credit, proper keywords, good image title, etc... e.g. Despite all of these things are added to the images (promo stills for the next ep, for example) the fan posted, SOMEONE rated them low cause she/he hates Vanessa on them.

mnicolini yeah i've seen some people rate my stuff and other people's stuff too low sometimes but i just ignore it they just are immature people but i like the way margot explained it cause this has to end.

LoveLiesAndLust First off, buddy, can i just say *MWAH*: PERFECTION. I couldn't have said it better myself. A lot of these things - CORRECTION: [i]all[/i] of these things bug me. Especially the behavior. I mean, it's okay to defend your fave character, actor, actress (etc.), or saying you're opinion of them - a character you don't like all too much/hate - (in a not too hateful way). But flat out insulting someone on this spot, or a character (or again, etc.) AND then defending [i]your[/i] favorite whatever is wrong. I do understand that you defend your fave if someone's insulting them, though. That's okay. Better than okay, actually. Also, even though it sometimes irks me that some people don't like the same things as I do, I know different people have different tastes and opinions. ANYWHO, moving on. Low ratings is one of the things that bothers me the most. If you see a WHOLE BUNCH of pics, icons, or something uploaded by the SAME person, it means they took the time to make those fanarts or icons or wallpapers (etc) OR took the time to find them on LJ or wherever, save them, and then upload them on here. That takes a lot of time (and effort). There's no reason to rate them low, unless of bad quality. Picks in the questions section. That gets annoying. Seriously. I do agree that it should be only for questions like "What song was played at the end of episode ___?" or SOMETHING of the sorts. Not "Which couple/character/actress/etc is better?" Repeat articles. Annoying! I do read fics on FF.net, but I read a good amount on here as well. And it's annoying to try to go to every (recent) article page just to find an update or see if there even is one. OR (like mentioned in the article) to see that your fic or opinion or just, article is still "0" or has only one or so ratings because it's already on the 10th page after 18 hours. Okay, rant over, haha. Just wanted to say I love you for writing this. <3
