Why are they called spots and not clubs?

On the homepage and profiles, they're called clubs, so why does everyone call them spots?

They used to be called spots, but fanpop changed it to clubs, presumably to make it a little clearer that fanpop is a fanclub based site. Us old people still call them "spots" because we are too old to change our ways.
