All I seem to be seeing recently is saran on rating, and the importance of commenting. Not that this is a bad thing, but I think its time to get back to the true spirit of Fanpop- complete and utter randomness.
The events in this story took place between the hours of 15:00 and 16:00p.m. on Tuesday, 13th of November.
Myself and my friend (lets call him Ted) were walking out from college to get a bus home. We have to walk down a long jalan, street to get to the bus station. Now on this street, there is a large, expensive jewellery shop. When I say expensive, think first house expensive, private yacht expensive.
The jalan, street was packed, so we stoped to wait for a gap in the crowd. Of course, genius here with her abnormally short attention span became distracted oleh the shiny items for sale in berkata shop's window. I went to examine, as did *Ted*. oleh chance, we spotted a pair of earrings with diamonds the size of M&M's selling for a mere €26,000. Being starving college students, we could only marvel at the amount of sponds they cost (while figuring out the best way to break into a jewellery store).
It stoked my curiosity, I admit, and I scoured the rest of the window, wondering if that was the most expensive thing the toko sold. I stopped to check the price of another piece, and called Ted to check it out. As I did, I felt a hand grip my arm.
I looked up to find an old lady standing selanjutnya to me, staring up with wide eyes. Unsure if I was about to be mugged, I started to pull away, but she gripped tighter.
The selanjutnya thing I hear is:
-Old lady-"Which ring are anda looking at, love?"
-Me-"Sorry?"
-OL "Which ring? Have anda seen one anda like? Sure its great, isn't it, getting the ring? Now, a bit of advice, my husband, when we were getting married, like, he bought me the ring, and d'ya know wha, I never liked it. I'm actually going to change it, get a new one there la. Sure, I've even seen it, and all the old fella needs to do is come in with the card."
-Me- "Thats nice...eh what time is-"
-OL- "Now trust me on this, because my two sisters, sure, when they got married, they got beautiful rings, girl, and d'you know, I was always a bit jealous. Now, my fella, hes's a good man, never bate me atau anything, wanted to put the money at the time into the house, but sure, the young wans today don't do that, so spend the money and get the ring anda want.D'ya know, I think I will change my ring, and then I can leave this earth a happy woman."
-Me-"Like eh, go for it, so.*Looking around for Ted*, are we late for the bus?"
-Ol- " That one back there is nice, isn't it? I'm not into the modern style myself, I prefer the antique claws, the six instead of the four...*talks about rings for twenty minutes. Twenty minutes*....now which one have anda seen, love?"
-Me-" Eh no, we were just having a look at all the stuff."
-OL-"*Looking from me to Ted* Ye're not engaged?"
-Both-"NO!"
-OL-"Are ye doing a line, so?"
-Both-" No, we're friends."
*Repeats this two lebih times*
OL- "Sure anda have plenty of time, love, to get the ring so. Bring in the boyfriend so for a gander, then."
Me-" Sure, why not?"
OL-" Are the two of ye out in the college so? What course are ye doing?"
Both-"Arts"
OL-*addressing Ted* "Will ya go for the old teaching so?"
Ted-"No, I don't think so(He hates kids)"
OL-"Sure you're doing the old psychology? There now, anda can go work in a school. And the Geramn is always good for the travel, like."
Ted-"Ya...Ah Christ, we have to go, the bus will strike off without us..."
OL-"Sure it was lovely to meet ya both. Remember what I berkata about the ring. See ya later, now!"
*Walks off down street*
Some of anda may find our treatment of this old lady rude and brusque. I would like to point out, she made us miss our bus, and we had to wait another jam in the rain until the selanjutnya one came. Ted ended up with the flu, and I got a cold.
The moral of the story is: Don't look in toko windows! Ever!
P.S- The conversation is pretty much verbatim, and on someones advice, I included it the exact way she spoke it. If anda don't understand some of the words, thats because its in Cork slang, of which there is a dictionary here: link
