Babies I don't believe are really born any religion. They might be born into a family that will teach them a religion and become a follower of it, but strait from birth I don't think they have any religious beliefs. Babies, especially newborns brain's are simply not developed enough yet to think of something like God or Intelligent Design. The closest thing they might be to believing in God at such an incredibly young age, is thinking of their parents as Gods maybe in a way.

When they are older though, if they are not taught of any religion by their family then I believe they become Agnostic. They may think about God and where everything came from and question it but they are not entirely sure if there is such a thing~

In my opinion, babies are born Muslim. As ridiculous as it seems, I believe it!

After putting the option 'atheist' 'nothing' seems quite redundant.

@Lt_Pupster: Why is the nothing option 'redundant'? The Atheist and nothing options I think are quite different. The nothing option means that you are not born with any religious beliefs. The Atheist option is being born with the full dismiss of God. But until you have actual knowledge of religion, you cannot dismiss it~

@Lt. Really, you're back again...? The option isn't redundant at all... People aren't born with religious values, they develop them over time, generally from the parents. Saying that just shows how uninformed you are about religion, as well as the human brain, especially when the brain is still in it's early developmental stages. Seriously, you need to educate yourself.

Anyway, to answer the actual question, I chose 'nothing' simply because children are 'nothing' when they are born - their brains are in the early developmental stages and do not recognise anything much... They can only barely recognise sound and visuals, let alone a complicated principle like religion.

I'd say born nothing and raised to something. I say 'nothing' rather than atheism because atheism is the certainty that no higher power exists where as nothing is to not have a real opinion formed yet, which seems more logical for a baby. Babies are too young to cling to any real beliefs so they can't really dismiss or select any God yet.

They barely have the cognitive functions to realize that they ARE let alone what deity has a bigger ego than another, or that even such a debate could exist. They have no comprehension of these things.

Because babies can do only a few things: Eat, sleep, shit, flail about, and cry.

As far as politics, religion, beliefs, prejudices, and knowledge of the world goes, all babies are born tabula rasa.

Babies are too young to have any understanding of religion, let alone have any religious beliefs.
