I studied animasi in university, and I'm going to tell anda what a couple of our lecturers told us. They air those shows because people watch them. :P They could take their chances with something a little different that focuses on character development, story progression and sophisticated humour, but they'd rather play it aman, brankas oleh going with those who pitch kartun full of one-dimensional characters and fart jokes. It's not like no one has good ideas anymore. The problem is that the interesting, unique ideas are too risky because they don't know how audiences will react. Apparently in TV pitchings, they look for "more of the same" because they've already earned their audience and just work on keeping them. Yup. That's what I learned at uni. If anda want to work in TV, anda have to be mainstream, atau be unemployed. (though to be fair, they did tell us this when promoting the idea of becoming completely artsy freelancers who make abstract films for festivals) On one hand, that makes sense. But on the other hand, I think it would do them good to win back their older audience too. I would advise anyone who is considering pitching to have a good look at Foster's halaman awal For Imaginary Friends. I always thought they did a great job. The characters were interesting enough to care about, there were a lot of exciting storylines and there was plenty of humour for kids and adults. And although some episodes contained lebih immature humour, they made sure there was some higher quality stuff there too. Personally, what I think they should try to do (to appeal to a wide variety of audiences without losing their current viewers) is air new shows in a rota based on their genre and/or target audience. For example, every tahun they could air a new action-based tampil in January, a hyperactive light-hearted tampil at the end of the Easter break, and a story-heavy character-focused tampil in September. I don't expect them to do this, but I think they'd be wise to try something that involves them being able to air a wider variety of cartoons. Who knows? Maybe it'll turn out that the genres the neglect the most will actually make their channel a lot lebih populer if they air them lebih often. They won't know unless they try. ;)
