buffy the vampire slayer Article: Buffy and how its remembered.

Since its begining I have been a dedicated Buffy fan. Since the first fight in the Bronze, to the school blowing up, to the showtunes of Once lebih with Felling and to Sunnydale becoming nothing lebih then a giant crater.
This is how i remember a tampil that changed the the face of televisi however lately ive been wandering throuh fanpop and several other sites and Ive found something that bothers me.What I remember this tampil for its riviting storylines, in-depth characters and excellent plot twists but from the what ive seen lately this tampil might as well have been only about its couples.
fan constantly try to tampil why Spuffy atau Bangel are the best and although these were great couples and intresting story arcs Its my opinon that the tampil should be remembered for how anda felt when Buffys mother died, Buffys showdown with The Master, Buffy sacrificing herself to save Dawn and the world only to be dragged out of heaven, these moments along with several lebih are what made the tampil for me not the will they wont they between Buffy and Spike, atau Bangels forbidden affair (how ever i do admit malaikat breaking up with Buffy in the sewers was an excellent scene). Like I berkata before the Bangel and Spuffy arcs were excellent story lines I just think the tampil could and should be remembered for so much more.

jighooligan101 forgot to mention if i had to choose id choose Bangel but the best couple was Willow and Tara

TeddyBear Yes that is completely true,you must be a die hard fan!!i understand what your trying to say,i sometimes feel the same way,.. i loved the sceene when buffy jumped into the portal 4 dawn,that was so sad!!(sob)or when angel broke up with her!it is true that buffy did begin at the beginning,if there was no buffy,there wouldn't of been show's like,my fav angel!,charmed or smallville & we should give it so much more credit it does deserve it!!..:)

x-missmckena-x im not a fan of willow and tara but thats because i didnt like tara, i agree with you that it seems now thats how the shwo is remembe, but anyone who is a massive fan remembers all that classic moments, but there not really things that can cause an interesting debate, as well as the couples do!

nosemuffin I'm with missmckena on the Tara thing. Jig, I see what you're saying, but I think that you underestimate a lot of Bangels and Spuffys. I love this show, for all the reasons you mentioned and more. The relationships just added even more depth to it. The fact that we do care so much about our selected relationship is just testament to the great writing and acting. And the debates, those are just for fun. In Fanpops Buffyland, we keep things relatively civilized when it comes to shipping, especially compared to certain other spots. If you look a little deeper, I'm sure that you'll find that we're willing to debate a lot more than just Spuffy vs. Bangel.

jighooligan101 NOSEMUFFIN IM NOT SAYIN TOTALLY DISREGARD THE COUPLES im just saying the show had a lot more to it then its couples (i wrote a similar soapbox in the television spot)

NikaDawson I think the couples are so much a part of the stoyline, that you can debate the storylines because of them. Like Spike getting a soul storyline, that was because of his relationship with Buffy. Angel loosing his soul stoyline was also part of his relationship with Buffy. Half the storylines are because of the couples. I agree with nosemuffin. Though I don't believe you need to like both character's to like a couple. I don't like Buffy half the time, but I'm still a hardcore Spuffy fan. I don't just debate couples in Buffy, I could debate any storyline, and the couples and the storylines are part of the reason I love Buffy so much, and because they can show intense devotion is a testament to how good the show was.

Joker I can't really add a lot more to what anyone's said can I. I don't watch it only for the couples stuff but I do think they provide more of the drama, for me personally anyways. There are loads of different moments that I absolutely love though, although they got less frequent later on.

jemgrl323 i totally agree with this jighooligan101!! it's something that really bugs me! while i looooove buffy and angel together, and i at times liked seeing buffy and spike.... i think that show was so much deeper than love stories between buffy and her boyfriends. i am not trying to underestimate the power of their relationships...i just think the relationships on BtVS were a representation of what was happening on the show, not vise versa. Buffy's relationships reflected on Buffy's struggle to find herself, to come to terms with her calling, and her growing understanding of how to be a young woman in a lonely violent world. Buffy's struggles were NOT reflecting on her relationships...her relationships reflected on her struggles. BtVS is not a soap opera...and it was not just another "teenage WB show." it may often be clumped in the same group as 7th heaven, roswell, one tree hill, the O.C. (i know thats not the WB but same category), gilmore girls, dawson's creek...etc. but it is completely different than any of those shows. i am not trying to put down those shows because i am a big one tree hill fan....but that is a soap opera- those shows play a large focus on romantic relationships. Even charmed....which i think is a fun show to watch....does not have the depth or intensity that BtVS has. Those shows really emphasize the romantic couples on the show A LOT. I never thought of BtVS in that way...while i find love on the show to be important-- i find that it almost degrades the show turning it into a "bangel" vs "spuffy" showdown. BtVS was one of the most intellectual and emotionally stimulating television shows ever created and while the romantic relationships on the show were important (and very important to storylines, character growth, the representation of love and passion...) i think the show goes wayyyy beyond these relationships.
