The Princess & the Popstar - All the details the movie missed

Since I got the Junior Novelization, these are ALL the things different and completely missing in the movie.

First, a particular thing I need to tell anda all: I had a feeling the storybook pictures were somehow connected to the movie's original script, and IN FACT, they are. The Junior Novelization tells the story as the original script for the movie told it.

Character and places' names:
-Liam comes for the Kingdom of Stuffingsburg, and Duke Trentino is his uncle.
-The lady in the long purple dress is called Lady Hamilton, and knows Tori, Meredith and Trevi since quite a lot of years.
-The one who painted that portrait of Duchess Amelia is called Monsieur Pierre.

All the differences between movie and book:
-Limburger calls Keira towards the end, when Crider's getting away with the plant, and tells her that if she doesn't go back to the konser in 5 minutes, she can ciuman her career goodbye. Keira throws the phone away and... well, loses her deal with the record company.
-The whole 'Diamond Gardenia' problem is quite lebih intricate than in the movie. The hari Tori and Keira decide to switch places, Crider and Rupert go back to the palace and while Crider distracts Duchess Amelia, Rupert steals the diamonds from the plant. That night, Rupert suggests Crider to grab the whole plant and he agrees with him that they should steal the entire plant.
-Keira wears a different dress at the teh party. It's a long purple dress with a blue skirt. The boots and the hairstyle, though, are the same.
-Tori doesn't transform Crider's hairstyle in the end. The only thing that changes is the dress.
-Tori decides to go do the konser at Keira's place both 'cause Limburger can destroy her career and because she sees Emily and charlotte in the crowd.
-When Crider calls Rupert for that gum on his pants (sorry, it's not the jaket in the book), Rupert is on a ladder and falls when he tries to get down and help his boss with the gum.
-Daniel talks more.
-Keira insults Duke Trentino, remarking him the fact that in Stuffingsburg women aren't so welcome. He gets really angry and it's Liam's job to calm him down.
-The first way Tori and Keira think of for stopping Crider is holding with their belts to the light cables and reach Crider that is on the carriage, to get both the plant and the diamonds.
-Keira is the first one to find out the diamonds have been stolen, King Frederic tells her that.
-The peri make the necklaces for Tori and Keira, and the two girls plant the entire necklaces to make the Gardenia grow again at the end.
-Keira actually TRIES to write a song before bernyanyi I Wish I Had Her Life.

-Popstar Daytime Number Sixty-One (Keira's purple long dress)
-Royal Princess Number Forty-Three (Still Tori's loose hair, but without the crown)
-Ball gaun Number Fourteen (The dress Crider wears in the end, the light blue one)

Differences of the dialogues:

CleoCorinne All the things written here are based on the original script for the movie, Evera. So everything in here is true, not invented by the one who wrote the Junior Novelization.

LightningRed I think this story is more interesting than in the movie. The plot is more complicated, I guess.

MelodyLaurel Ceci is right, it even says in the first page before the story that it was based on the movie script. Anyway, Keira really is bitchy.

sparkletoes I always thought that PaP was a incomplete story! The movie looked so loose and incomplete to me! And the book is more complicated and better! Mattel did a really bad job in converting the book into a movie! I am disappointed!

XTinkerBellx They didn't start with the book and turn it into a movie, sparkletoes, they based the book on the movie.

CleoCorinne That's the point, everyone. MelodyLaurel and XTinkerBellx said the truth. It's the BOOK that is based on the movie, not the other way 'round.

MajorAbbey So, I'm assuming the fight between Keira and Duke Trentino is the incident involving a duke that they'd brought up in the past? Why'd they cut it? Why, for that matter, did we see so little of Keira's time as a princess? Come to think of it, why'd they cut any of this? I think Lena_t said it best; those details could've really worked, and not just to make Gardania and the movie more realistic, either. There's a lot of stuff here that could've really improved Liam's character, for instance. I mean, I could understand if it was cut for time or something like that, but... yeah, I don't think I'm ever going to be able to understand why Mattel makes decisions like this.

Madmozell Maybe they are the deleted scenes, like in other movies in the bonus feature menu they are deleted scenes but not all the movies in some of them((not barbie movies)). But the information is very interesting from what happened in the movie. Thank you so much Ceci for sharing this.

BarbieRosella ^ I agree with this. If Mattel will delete a scene, put it as a bonus feature. No wonder why the movie is just 1 hour and 10 minutes. Mattel's so stupid at making this. I'm nervous about Pink Shoes now. Maybe they will cut some scenes as well. AGAIN, it's a flop.

XTinkerBellx It is very draining for me to read people's comments always sniping on The Princess and The Popstar. Why not focus on the things you like about the movie? Why not be happy there are extra details in the book instead of complaining about them not being in the movie? It is not new that they add more details to the novelizations. Like with A Christmas Carol’s novelization, they mention what Freddy's stage name is and they don't mention it in the movie. Would it have let you know more about Freddy? Yes. Would it have helped with the main plot of the movie? No. Which is probably why all that stuff about Prince Liam and Duke Trentino was left out. It is interesting but not necessary.

manu962 I agree with most of what you said Olivia. But I still think PaP needed to add more information and scenes in the movie to make the plot a bit more interesting. I remember that everyone said PaP had more song parts than talking parts and that's true. I'm not against having many songs since it is a musical but it should've been a bit more longer and interesting.

XTinkerBellx Novelizations have more information in them because they are often based on early scripts. The scripts change so that's why things are cut out of the movie. The book is still official though, so now you have the extra information, why still say rude things about the movie and Mattel? You've got what you wanted in the end, the extra info, and if they didn't have a good reason for cutting it out of the movie I don't think they would have.

MajorAbbey True, it wasn't necessary to the plot, but it could've helped with the characterization of some of these characters (which was sorely lacking in some places, particularly in Liam's case). Characterization is just as important, even in things like this (in fact, I'd say it might even be MORE important, considering that they're trying to sell these characters to people and expect girls to want dolls based on them). It IS good that they included those details in the book, don't get me wrong, but it's NOT good to drop things that could've improved the movie as a whole. Those parts may not have been drastically important to the plot - I'm with you there - but that doesn't mean they couldn't have been important in some other way. For instance, we see Tori trying out life as a popstar and realizing it's not perfect, but they don't really show that being a princess isn't a barrel of laughs either. That scene with Keira and Duke Trentino could've been an interesting counterpoint to Tori's own experiences. Except it didn't, because it didn't happen. I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I hated PaP, because I don't; in fact, I liked it enough to buy it. It was a fun movie, the songs were nice and the animation on Keira's concert scenes was fantastic. I'd say it was one of the better modern BMs, although I still prefer PCS. But I'm not going to pretend it's flawless - and, if I'm honest, one of the biggest problems I had with it was that it felt incomplete. That's not a problem these movies usually have. PCS didn't feel incomplete. None of the older movies did. Heck, FF didn't feel complete, and that one usually gets twice as much hate as PaP.

XTinkerBellx I pretty much give up on trying to defend the newer movies. I've ended up just complaining about people complaining.

MajorAbbey No, by all means, defend them if you want to. Someone has to. It's an exhausting task, though, I will admit. I've been on the defensive on more than one occasion, and it's not easy. Another thing is that, in my experience at least, people tend to bring up flaws more often because they're more interesting to discuss; what you didn't like, what you would've done instead, that sort of thing. I feel like this goes double for the internet. This doesn't mean the movies are awful, or that the good things don't exist, but they just don't get brought up as often as the flaws. (I probably should point out, as well, that I'm not the best person to provide a positive outlook. Not now, at least. I'm at a bad point in my life, and I tend to expect the worst in any case.But I will stand by what I said about Keira's concert and the songs, even if it does get lost among whatever else I may say.)

XTinkerBellx If people think it's interesting to talk about things they don't like then they can go ahead. That's why I give up, because I can't really change what people think. If I try to convince them to look at things from a different perspective, I'm just beating a dead horse.

MajorAbbey Well, if it's any consolation, people are pretty optimistic about PS. Heck, even I'm starting to feel optimistic about it.
