Why is it that it's considered rude to call an African-American "black," but it's not rude to call someone who's Caucasian "white"?

Because it's been engrave in human minds that black is an ugly color that symbolizes death, despair, and defilement, while white is associated with purity and beauty. Now, think how hurt and lowly an African-American feels to be called an ugly despair just oleh using one color to describe who they are.

I'm black, and I don't think being called black is racist. If someone comes up to me and is all like, 'Gosh, you're so black.' I'll be like, 'Thank you, have a great day.'
BET is Black Entertainment Television, so it's not offensive. Black is a beautiful color, with so many meanings and backstories. It's just the way anda look at it. That changes meaning people. So yeah, but don't go around calling black people the ni**er word. It never ends well, unless their your friend and they just laugh.

its basicaly racist well it just depends on where anda live and some people take it alot lebih seriously then others but your right most of it has to do with slavery also people say black and white because a long time yang lalu they couldn't go to school together

I have no idea. I guess it's for the same reason why it's considered offensive to call an overweight person "fat", but completelly fine to call an underweight person "skinny" atau "anorexic".
*sigh* Seriously though, I don't find it offensive, but I do think it's ridiculus. We're not "black" and "white", we're different sades of brown. And lebih genetically identical than a bunch of over-bred Cocker spaniels at an AKC show. So yeah. Ridiculus.

I don't know why people call Caucasian "white" atau Africans "black". Most people use this to separate race atau describe someone. It is not very nice and I think the reason is because of what happened long time yang lalu and they feel that it is not nice what with what happened. But if anda look @ it Caucasians were not slaves so they think it is okay to call them "white". I'm not saying this because I'm black British. I'm just saying what I think.

I'm African-American and I find the term "black" to be okay. It isn't offensive to me. Everyone is different some blacks get offended when others don't.
