Maybe her pushing to hard for him to get a good scholar ship at a college. She just wants to help him but ends up driving him away.

Maybe the boy's mother was killed years yang lalu and the boy wants revenge. He's secretly a killer and the girl wants to stop him and make him learn that revenge isn't always a good thing.
