Comic book fans should be happy to hear that The CW\'s new adaptation of

will be faithful to what the characters they\'ve come to know and love.

spin-off tells the story of  Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), a scientist who, after a freak accident, gains the power of super speed and transforms into the Fastest Man Alive. Using his powers, Barry hopes to prove the innocence of his father, who was accused of murdering Barry\'s mother.

"It\'s probably the most faithful DC Comics adaptation ever," executive producer and DC Comics chief Geoff Johns told reporters at the Television Critics Association\'s fall previews on Friday. "We\'ve incorporated almost everything of the mythology into it and added a new backstory with S.T.A.R. Labs."

But Snart won\'t be the only familiar face popping up in Central City. As previously announced,

In the pilot episode, there\'s also a neat Easter Egg for Gorilla Grodd, a supervillain and nemesis of the Flash in the comics. Viewers will see a broken cage with a dangling nameplate that teases what could come in the future. Hopefully, "we can see exactly what jumped out of that cage," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg says.
