Hmmm. I kind of stopped looking at that thread as of late because of the medal whoring. Maybe we can get it back to the way it was. Maybe we need to enforce rules (only post after a month of no ratings, etc.)

What hurts me even more is that some of the content there is just repeated/old/random pictures that don't even deserve good ratings... :(

But yeah, some rules would be nice.

We set up guidelines when the spot first opened. By when the rating system changed and we couldn't see how many people had rated an item, the VRSOF just kinda died, because we couldn't follow the guidelines anymore. But recently, that forum that I linked to has been FULL of people talking about rating each others contributions that have been posted for 5 minutes, just so they can get medals. And because they are doing it inside a forum, rather than in the links section, I think a lot of VRSOF members have not seen what is going on.

I never noticed it before. Now that I know, I'm kind of irked. :p

medal whoring is one of my pet hates, cause it goes on all around us every day, but now, they have started messaging each other so that no one can see them doing it, although it is obvious.

it just pains me because me and other fans are working so hard, and they just stroll in and get rewards for nothing.

It was vidoes that I left on the Evanescence fanclub, and despite almost everything there being rated, mine weren't. I eventually got fed up and wrote an article requesting for people to rate the videos. :(

But I remember seeing guidelines here when in case someone were to ask for their stuff to be rated, and I made sure my situation was relevant.

Thats one of the problems with medal whoring: some people get left out of the ratings while other people, adding the same or worse quality content, don't get any ratings. That is when people get pissed off and leave Fanpop, or start whoring themselves. It is that cycle that keeps on turning!
