I'd say so. It was nice to have the main character not end up with her childhood friend in the end, for once (I run into that type of plot a lot, and I've always found it boring). I also haven't seen many books that have vampire/human hybrids in them, which was cool. Then there's the different twist on vampires, and while I sort of prefer the traditional kind, I still thought it was a cool idea. :)
