Percy's last meeting with Juno went like this:
Juno warns Percy that Annebeth might be a setback in saving Rome.
Hm, a bit suspicious. No way that's mere coincidence.
And Ella's prophecy did say something about the Mark of Athena.
On puncak, atas of all of this, the cover of the book "Mark of Athena" is quite scary aswell.
It depicts Jason with his Imperial emas gladius riding Tempest (the horse he had tamed in the run-down mansion) on a awan of thunder and lightning charging Percy who is holding Riptide riding on Blackjack on waves of water with an owl (the literal emblem of Athena) in the background.
I believe either two things:
1. Percy and Jason do not get along, and are so similar (like thalia and Percy) that they argue at every possible moment, and Gaia (Gaea) uses this to control each hero into killing eachother. The only one to solve this problem would be Annebeth, who is diberikan some blessing of knowledge from Athena... maybe.
Blah blah blah, they save Rome, then the selanjutnya book has the seven heroes of Greece and Rome traveling to the origin of the gods - Greece itself.
OR...
2. Percy and Jason get along fine until they reach Rome, at this point Annebeth stirs trouble between Jason and Percy either oleh being controlled oleh Gaia atau out of sheer romantic issues. Perhaps this turns out to be a romance issue and Percy is jealous of Jason's new found friendship? Who knows.
All I can say is that Gaia is somewhat involved between the two fighting.
I think the first one seems the most reasonable, but who knows?
