Busted! anda are NOT a chicken! What do anda have to say for yourself, anda lying Aquila? How can anda live with yourself being away from your legion? How can you!?!?
Now that my CSI:Snowy places moment is finished; I'm going to talk about the chicken-on-a-stick that Percy's holding on the cover. What is it? What's it story? What is Percy doing with it?
Well; as some of anda know, it's called an Aquila.
This is what an Aquila is, according to page 74 of 'The Romans for dummies' oleh Guy de la Bédoyère (it's actually a very good book);
A emas eagle, only carried when the whole legion was on the march
And it's apparently a constellation too although I don't know if that has anything to do with the roman standart atau not... Maybe 'Aquila' is just the Latin word for 'eagle' and it could well be. ANYWAYS,
To go into detail; there were little lightning bits going out from under the eagle, and the whole was on puncak, atas of a pole. Each legion had its own, and it was one of the legionary symbols.
But here's the thing; if you'd call the Aquila a chicken-on-a-stick to a Roman's face, he'd kill anda straight away.
The Aquila was extremely important. If anda lost the Aquila in battle atau just plain lose it, the embarasement level is about tampilkan up to school with no clothes. It doesn't matter if poor Spartacus just dropped it down a cliff when he got shoved; you're all shamed.
So here we are wondering; who the Pluto let Percy -strange, unknown son of a Big 3, impulsive to the naked eye Percy- take their Aquila?
Answer: No Legate (dude in charge of a legion) would ever, ever do that. The Aquila is worth your honour and your position. Which is basically what you'd blackmail a Roman with- honour was important to them like socks are to Dobby and Tabasco oil to Festus.
Anyways, here are our options...
1) Percy mencuri it (how and why we have no idea)
2) Percy found it
3) Percy was sent on a quest to find it
4) Percy climbed up the power scale scary fast and became either legate atau someone else who had access to it)
5) The cover is lying to us
6) This is one big cross-country hypnotic exercise and actually, the cover shows Percy skipping in a field of bunga safely out of harm's way.
I'm going to elaborate on theory number 3 this time around.
Before anda slash me to bits,” he said, “who’s this patron anda mentioned?”
Euryale sneered. “The goddess Gaea, of course! The one who brought us back from oblivion! anda won’t live long enough to meet her, but your friends below will soon face her wrath. Even now, her armies are marching south. At the Feast of Fortune, she’ll awaken, and the demigods will be cut down like —like—”
“Like our low prices at Bargain Mart!” Stheno suggested. -Page 11, The Son of Neptune
Alright, so we have our threat. Gaia's armies are marching down.
We also have our problem at Camp Caesar salad (well, a problem, I'm sure there's more). Jason is missing.
Yeah I know, that's old news, but the Romans are still probably freaking out about it (unless they've already assumed he's dead- hmm...), and with reason. They've probably had their share of freaky dreams (Reyna has, anyways), and there's probably a Leo in their ranks (in the sence that there's already someone who saw/faced/confronted/lost to Gaia before). They've got to at least feel that something isn't right. At least the Auguries that Reyna mentioned will. And the natural Roman response to it is 'attack before they attack us!' (it has been done- trust me).
But I have this wacky theory that when Jason went missing, so did the Aquila of legion 1. So there's some standart-bearer who's in deep, deep trouble right now. I'm talking he's-looking-at-life-through-cell-bars trouble here (unless they get that it's because Jason is missing).
So maybe without the Aquila, legion 1 -Jason's legion- can't go into battle and that's a serious problem because one legion is the equivalent of a tank atau two atau more. anda need that power, and without it, the effect and outcome of a battle just isn't the same. But I don't see why the Aquila and the legion would be tied together so tightly apart from tradition and old times' sake which can certainly be tossed out the window once in a while.
Maybe whoever has the Aquila can control the legion the standart belongs to. So Gaia could have legion 1 charging AGAINST the rest of Rome somehow-although that seems a little magical and unprobable.
Another one of my theories on why the Aquila is important to that point- remember in the link
how Reyna reacted so harshly to Percy's name? How she seemed to know him, like he'd shown up in her nightmares? (which I bet 5 dollars, 10 drachmas, 3 galleons and a pack of gum he did) I think that she knows about him. So maybe, just maybe, in her dream she saw a twisted image of Percy being the answer to her problems. So they'll send Percy on a quest to find the Aquila, and she'll tell him to look for a blond guy in purple while he's out there. Makes sence?
Another thing I want to mention about the Aquila before I let anda all be;
A emas eagle, only carried when the whole legion was on the march
So here's a much lebih fun and interesting theory; Percy has the Aquila in the Winter Wonderland the cover shows, and the whole of legion 1 is there as well.
Wouldn't that be something? Those Greek temples on the cover that are falling- Gaia was keeping legion 1 there, Khione had them Frozen up like she wanted to do to Jason- the only member of legion 1 who survived the flash-freeze. But Percy comes in, Frank the Tank kills the guards, Hazel busts some moves, the legion is free, they make a run for it, but at the last menit a little kid who was ignored tells Percy that the Aquila is still inside the temples so he rushes in, and jumps in the ocean just before the rest of the temple collapses.
Then they gabung the battle at the feast of fortune and KICK SOME BUTT!!!
atau that was just me getting really excited, but it would be an even better reason to send a quest. A whole legion is missing! Not just one guy! Not just one Aquila! A whole legion! Plus, it would make their job lebih exciting for us, and harder for them. Ha-ha!
Am I right? Maybe, maybe not. Until we find out (a.k.a. 42 days, around 1008 hours and many lebih impatient squeels!), check out some lebih of my link as they are very long and very varied and will waste some of those 1008 for you!
Except for anda Aquila, because I haven't forgiven anda for lying to us.
*I've gotten a little lebih attached to the idea of crediting gambar now because I heard Burdge-bug mention how she hated it, and people have ripped off my fanfiction too, so here's where I got my gambar from

-The cartoon one is from the Son of Neptune cover
About the 7 Children of the Prophecy, I think it's Percy who will lead the other 6. And I think that these names are the ones who will be in the Great Prophecy.
1. Percy Jackson=Son of Poseidon/Neptune
2. Jason Grace=Son of Zeus/Jupiter
3. Annabeth Chase=Daughter of Athena/Minerva
4. Nico di Angelo=Son of Hades/Pluto
5. Piper Mclean=Daughter of Aphrodite/Venus
6. Leo Valdez=Son of Hephaestus/Vulcan
7. Frank Zhang=Son of Ares/Mars
These are just my best guesses. And i hope that they are also the destined 7 demigods of the prophecy.
Thanks for membaca :)
