It was an early time to wake up, far before dawn, but Rabbitfur had promised his father, Foxtail, that he’d meet with him to prepare for the peace meeting. Why can’t Spiderfur understand that all of us could live in peace? The tiny group of starving kucing that had made the journey was now healthy and confident. They had found a new home, with plenty of food and water, and new kucing who were willing to help with the founding of the new clan.
“Are anda ready?” Foxtail’s voice rumbled from the sarang, den entrance.
“Yes, I’m coming!” Rabbitfur tried not to wake the sleeping kucing around him, “Are anda sure anda don’t want to rest first? You’ve been keeping watch all night.”
Foxtail shook his head, “I couldn’t sleep last night and I wouldn’t be able to now. I probably won’t be able to at all until we get this over with.”
The two toms left the sarang, den and Cody crawled out behind them, “I’ll keep watch if anda like.” The creamy tom offered before scratching his shredded collar, the only reminder of his kittypet life.
“That is a very generous offer when anda could get some lebih sleep.” Foxtail meowed.
“I’m too excited to sleep anymore.” Cody explained, “If this goes right I’ll get to be a warrior, right?”
“That’s right, keep an eye on the camp for us,” Foxtail nodded and headed toward the entrance,”and remember what I said, ’don’t get your hopes up too high.’” Cody nodded and took a post oleh the entrance.
Foxtail lead the way through the forest, his ginger-and-white bulu glowing in the starlight. Rabbitfur recalled the stories his father had told him about his mother, Rabbitleap, who had died to bring him into the world; who his father had named him in honor of. He would’ve loved to meet the mother who had loved him so much, enough to give up her life so he could live. I wonder if StarClan is in these strange skies, can anda see me, Rabbitleap?
“Come on.” Foxtail gestured to the stepping stones with his tail before crossing to the island. Rabbitfur followed, trying to push thoughts of his mother to the back of his mind.
Spiderfur and his brother, Squirrelfang, were already waiting oleh the tall rock in the middle of the island. Squirrelfang nodded politely but his eyes shone with forced hostility, Spiderfur continued to stare at Foxtail, ignoring his nod of greeting. Spiderfur and Squirrelfang exchanged a glance that made them appear to be communicating through thought.
“You can’t change my mind, Foxtail,” Spiderfur growled suddenly,” anda know why we left our clans.”
“Yes, Spiderfur,” Foxtail replied,” we left because we believed that there should be five clans. If SkyClan is gone, that means there are only four.”
“There are supposed to be five clans and anda know it!”
“But didn’t anda leave ShadowClan so anda could build a new clan, one that is dignified enough to help a clan in need, and not drive them all to starvation?”
“What anda say is true, but there must be five clans!” Spiderfur suddenly seemed old beyond his years, he looked tired and his shoulders sagged. “I didn’t leave my clan for nothing.”
“I know,” Foxtail rested his tail on the tabby’s shoulder,” none of us did. But-“
“You act like we came here to abandon the Warrior Code!”
“No, Spiderfur, I promise, we won’t do that.” Foxtail sighed,” We haven’t checked the bottom of the mountain yet,” he changed the subject,” we still have to make sure it’s aman, brankas to stay here.”
The four toms crossed the steppingstones and headed toward the mountain, hardly visible in the cloudy night. Squirrelfang was in the lead, Rabbitfur a little way behind, Spiderfur and Foxtail further back, discussing and arguing about what’s right. atau if StarClan could see them.
Once they passed a deep opening in the side of the mountain were a stream flowed out, Rabbitfur felt a strange feeling, deep in his chest, there was something tugging him toward the opening. Squirrelfang must’ve felt it too, he was staring speechlessly into the darkness, his eyes wide.
“What are anda doing?” Spiderfur nudged his brother.
Wordlessly, Squirrelfang padded into the dark opening. Unable to resist anymore, Rabbitfur followed. Foxtail didn’t pertanyaan him, just followed.
They moved through the deep shadow, Spiderfur decided to follow as well. A faint light appeared ahead of them with… were those… kucing in front of it? Yes, two kucing sitting around a glowing pool of water, the sumber of the stream, there was a small waterfall pouring down from high above. Who are those cats? Something was familiar about them.
“But why would we both find this place, at the same time? In the middle of the night?” the smaller cat, a she-cat, meowed.
“I don’t know,” the tom meowed,” I-“
“Sparrowbeak?” Squirrelfang meowed suddenly.
Now Rabbitfur new who they were; Sparrowbeak, a brown-tabby tom, former ThunderClan warrior; Leafpaw, a small tortoiseshell she-cat, former RiverClan apprentice, she was staying in the same camp as Rabbitfur.
“What’s going on here?” Foxtail asked.
“I’m not sure,” Leafpaw answered,” we were both just… drawn to this place.”
Without thinking, Rabbitfur padded to the edge of the pool, and crouched down, “Let’s drink.”
“What?”Spiderfur hissed, “Foxtail, your son is a mouse-brain.”
“Rabbitfur, get over here.”Foxtail ordered.
Ignoring them, Rabbitfur drink a mouthful of the best, coldest water he’d ever tasted, without a word, Leafpaw, Sparrowbeak, and Squirrelfang joined him. He began falling asleep when Foxtail lay beside him.
A warm breeze woke Rabbitfur, he was in a strange forest, and the only familiar part was his own creamy paws beneath him. Suddenly, he noticed that the other kucing were appearing on either side of him.
Strange kucing began walking toward them from the shadows, eyes gleaming with welcome.
“Rabbitleap!” Foxtail shot forward, burying his face in a cream-and-white she-cat’s fur. Spiderfur and Squirrelfang were greeting a fluffy white she-cat; Sparrowbeak touched noses with a black tom, and Leafpaw speaking to a grey she-cat and a black-and-white tom.
Rabbitfur looked up to see Rabbitleap standing in front of him, Foxtail wrapped around her. Does she still cinta me? Would she rather have lived, and let me die?
She rested her muzzle on his head,” I cinta you,” she murmured,” and I will never regret giving my life for you, so stop thinking that.”
“It’s time.” A grey-and-white tom was standing on a dark boulder.
All the other kucing lined up behind him, the living kucing were directed to sit in a line in front of him.
“The time of the new clans has come!” the tom announced, “Leafpaw, Sparrowbeak, step forward.” He stepped off of the boulder and rested his muzzle on Leafpaw’s head. “From now on anda shall be Leaffeather, medicine cat of SunClan.” Her eyes gleamed as the StarClan kucing chanted her name, the living kucing joined in.
“Sparrowbeak, anda will be medicine cat of MoonClan.” The other kucing cheered.
“Leaffeather! Sparrowbeak! Leaffeather! Sparrowbeak!”
“Rabbitfur, Squirrelfang.” He summoned them toward the new medicine cats,”From now on anda will be Rabbitstar, of SunClan, and Squirrelstar of MoonClan!”
Rabbitstar was taken oleh surprise. Shouldn’t Foxtail be leader?
StarClan cheered, Foxtail and Rabbitleap wrapped themselves around their son, purring loudly.
The grey-and-white tom was on the rock again, “Now summon all your kucing to the island when the moon is full, tell them about the new clans, let them choose who to follow, and choose your deputies.”
The new clans were in place, StarClan was watching them, and the new clans would last for longer than the old ones. SunClan and MoonClan will rule the forest forever!
The kucing filled the clearing. It was time to lead the clans. Squirrelstar was standing in the clearing, Rabbitstar walked toward him, “I hope this works.”
“Me too,” Squirrelstar replied, “we’ve come so far, there’s no way we could let it all go to waste.”
“We should start the meeting.” Foxtail meowed. Rabbitstar nodded.
As Rabbitstar climbed to the puncak, atas of the tall rock in the middle of the island, he swore that, even after he joined StarClan, he would make sure the clans last forever.
