i started playing the keyboard when i was 3 and continued playing that till i was 6 and started on the piano and im still playing :D and i get taught but if im bored i usually try to learn something by myself

I taught myself how to play. It just came naturally.

It's on our genes that we are great piano players.
My grandma taught me and now i learn by myself.

i got a keyboard when i was about nine and i have tought myself how to play. i also play a few other instruments so it comes easier for me

i used to mess around on the piano when i was 3 or 4. i didn't start formal lessons until i was 7 though.

I play little tunes from my school band music and some songs I heard. I have little sheet music to play. Then, it just comes out. I can't wait until I'll be able to play classical music. Every good pianist plays classical music.

I used to take lessons, but I don't anymore. I'm not as good with the sheet music now, but I'm a lot better at playing by ear.

Taught myself from the age of five by playing by ear from listening to my brothers. Then I was forced to take lessons, and still do. I'm glad I went though!

I only took 2 years of lessons, but I learned a lot more on my own. I can figure out how to play songs by ear (I don't even bother with sheet music. If Stevie Wonder can play blind, why do I need sheet music?) and I write my own songs :)

I took lessons for about 2-3 months when I was very young,and than I tought myself. :)

I wish I had the opportunity to take lessons when I was young, but I'm doing the best I can to learn on my own. And I'm excited to be starting a beginning piano class at college next year!

It was a bit of both.. Once I knew what the notes were it wasn't too hard to get the basics, I could already read so I had lessons to learn the technical stuff, but even now I don't have lessons anymore but I am still teaching myself to play new things.
