misanthrope86 LOL. It's a spent bullet. Basically, Walter had to shoot Olivia in the head to save the universe, but then he saved her by removing the bullet. Its part of the bigger story about Olivia having to die in every possible future etc etc. Its hard to explain Fringe story lines without sounding like a crazy person...
