We neither saw Michael Scofield's death nor his dead body!!!
I guess he will return after `The General's` execution.
`The General` has threatened Sara, Lincoln, his whole family to harm Michael. Michael faked his death to protect them. After `The General's`death Michael is free to start a new life with his family.

That does make sense, I mean common the guy's a genius, always a step ahead of everyone!!! I think he probably did fake his death to protect the people he loves, it's what he's done since the beginning of the series!! I know there's no more Prison Break, but I'd like to think after the general's excecution Michael was free to go back to his family and live his life!!

If Michael had faked his death, surely he would have let Sara and Lincoln in on the secret instead of putting them through such grief?
