The first season, through Eva's story, focuses on relationship difficulties, loneliness, identity, and belonging. The second season, through Noora's story, focuses on a troubled relationship, feminism, eating disorders, and sexual assault. The third season, through Isak's story, focuses on coming out difficulties, homosexuality, mental health illness (bipolar disorder) and religion. The fourth season, through Sana's story, focuses on the Islamic religion, forbidden love, cyberbullying, and the Norwegian russ (graduation) celebratory period.
