1867, somewhere near Houston, Texas
I lowered myself into the jerami, hay loft and tried to put my mind at ease. The moon was full out the large window, with stars scattered around it as if god was in a hurry. I tried to memorize the minoscule cracks and craters among the moon's massive form as I smelled Jasper below me. I'm not ready, but I guess now's not the time to practice. I sighed to myself. "You wanted to speak with me, Sir?" I spoke breathlessly as he approached me from behind.
"Yes, just-"
"Please!" I turned swiftly, grabbing his scarred wrists and falling to my knees. "Please, don't kill me!" I forced the memory of being literally tossed into my first fight into my mind, and dragged him through the sorrow and fear. My eyes widened as far as they could, his narrowed. He struggled to pull his hands away, though I was far from giving up. I felt a sickening joy begin to seep through my skin. Now atau never. My plight had suddenly become serious. buaya tears became real, false fear had transformed to intense panic. Our crimson eyes might for less than a second, though it was long enough to convince me that my plan wouldn't work. I collasped into the jerami, hay with a soft cry and released his arms. He took a moment to brush himself off before he knelt down to me. I forced my eyes shut as I felt every ridge on his forearm slide against my own skin. "Do it fast, Sir." My voice crumbled as his large hand cupped around my throat. His nails slowly pressed against my windpipe, and I whispered a final prayer. He sighed.
"Get up." I raised an eyebrow. "I berkata get up!" Jasper's whiskey-smooth voice was barely above a whisper as he hissed at me. I gingerly pushed away from the floor, unsure of how the night could get any stranger. I turned to face him.
"Yes, Sir?" He tentatively bit his lip, and ran a hand through his shaggy blond hair.
"Leave. Now." I stood there stupidly for a moment, trying to figure out if it was a trick. "Hurry! For god's sake, girl! Maria will be back soon." I took a single step backwards. Then another. He nodded curtly. My toes curled around the edge of the loft. I looked over my shoulder at Jasper.
"Thanks." I berkata emotionlessly as I leapt down from the detik story of the rickety barn. I sped away into the night, ready to never see another vampire again.
