Believe me it is not what it seems like you have to read the whole book in order to understand. Farid barely even notices Meggie at times and he is more concerned about Dustfinger than he loves Meggie. Plus Doria is really sweet and smart and he cares the most about Meggie. Farid is just really rude in the third book. I know that at the end of the second book it seems horrible but in the third book I grew to really really dislike him.

I used to like Meggie & Farid in Inkspell, but Farid in Inkdeath was a horrible jerk, he destroied their relationship and he deserved to be dumped by Meggie. If someone is unhappy that Farid and Meggie did not finish together, he should blame Farid, not Meggie. I really love Doria and I'm happy with the ending. Doria takes care of Meggie and he's better then Farid for her :) Sorry for my English

Cornelia Funke is not stupid. She is an amazing incredible author, who created amazing characters and worlds. In fact, I couldn't care less who Meggie is with. It's just a weak minor subplot and I wish everyone would stop obsessing with it.
