You would not beleive how much better the extended versions of LOTR were. They were soooo much better and the theatrical ones were awesome!

I would love it if they took a page from PJ's book! Seriously, why not extended versions?! The extended ones of LOTR were even more pleasing to the book lovers and I think extended ones of Harry Potter would have done the same. Stupid WB, another dumb move they did methinks.

the closest they ever came to extending harry potter was when they aired the first one on tv once after it came out, and all they did was work deleted scenes where they thought they should have been...i was miffed!

Seeing as they pretty much cut out the entire plot as of the last few films. Starting with PoA, I think the directing has gotten a bit too artsy, and less story driven, which is what makes the books as good as they are in the first place. I had a cousin who had not read the books but went with me to see the third film. She was confused as all hell come the end. Plot comes before cinematography, movie-makers.

That would be awesome, and they could add in all the scenes they cut out!

It'd be an opportunity to extend the story and add in all the little bits the book fans missed. But I'm not sure it'd work - I'm pretty sure LOTR was filmed with all the extra scenes, and then cut to make it just long instead of extremely long. With HP, I don't think they even bothered filming a lot of the stuff the book fans miss.
