Broadway\'s FROZEN Crowns its Fearless Queen - Meet Betsy Wolfe!

As BroadwayWorld reported earlier this morning, stage favorite Betsy Wolfe, known for her star-making turns in Off-Broadway's THE LAST FIVE YEARS and Woody Allen's BULLETS OVER BROADWAY, is attached to play the lead role of Elsa in Disney's stage adaptation of FROZEN. In honor of the big news, BWW brings you a look back at some of Wolfe's top performances!

An official casting announcement has not yet been made by Disney.

Beginning next summer, the musical will play an out-of-town tryout in Denver ahead of an official Broadway bow at the St. James Theatre in spring 2018.

FROZEN features music and lyrics by creators of the film score Kristen Anderson-Lopez (In Transit, Up Here) and Robert Lopez (Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon, Up Here) and a book by Jennifer Lee (Wreck-It Ralph), the film's screenwriter and director (with Chris Buck). Frozen won 2014 Oscars® for Best Song ("Let It Go") and Best Animated Feature.

The design team for Frozen includes scenic and costume design by seven-time Tony Award winner Bob Crowley (Mary Poppins, The Coast of Utopia, An American in Paris), lighting design by five-time Tony Award winner Natasha Katz (Aladdin, An American in Paris, The Glass Menagerie) and sound design by four-time Tony nominee Peter Hylenski (The Scottsboro Boys, Motown, After Midnight).

Two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Oremus (Avenue Q, Wicked, The Book of Mormon) is music supervisor and creates vocal and incidental arrangements.

Wolfe's other Broadway credits include Everyday Rapture with Sherie Rene Scott (also Off-Broadway), 110 in the Shade and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (also in San Francisco and Boston).

In 2013, Wolfe starred in the Off-Broadway revival of Jason Robert Brown's THE LAST FIVE YEARS at Second Stage Theater. She subsequently performed 'A Summer in Ohio' at the production's album launch.

In 2014, she returned to Broadway in the stage adaptation of BULLETS OVER BROADWAY following a run in Roundabout's THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. Wolfe and co-star Zach Braff stopped by THE TODAY SHOW to perform a song from the musical.

Just this spring, Wolfe performed alongside the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, where she was joined by fellow Broadway alum Darren Criss. Among the songs on the setlist were 'Maybe This Time' from CABARET, and 'Falling Slowly' from ONCE, which she sang with Criss.
