So I tried to think of a catchier title, but I figured I might as well just call it what it is. I have seen instances of (what I believe to be unintentional) heterosexism in several fanpop picks. As evidenced oleh link, however, some believe it to be intentional.
Now I'm not trying to whine about wording atau being politically correct. In fact, I'm not politically correct in the slightest, as anyone who knows me well enough will tell you. And this issue isn't really a big deal, I just wanted to make people aware of it and ask their opinions on it. So do anda find these things odd?
The type of picks that I'm talking about are typically picks like "Who would anda kiss?" atau "Who is hotter?" Now these are fine picks. My problem is the constant addendum added to them, which reads "FOR GUYS ONLY!" atau "FOR GIRLS ONLY!", usually (for some reason) in capital letters. Here are a few examples of what I'm talking about.

These are just a few things I found when searching "for girls" on Fanpop. I bet I'll find some searching its sister phrase, "for guys."
Mostly, I just find these kind of phrases a little bit superfluous. I mean, straight guys can komentar on the attractiveness of another guy, can't they? And what about lesbians, can they still answer the pertanyaan even though they aren't attracted to guys? If yes, then why not gay men? Honestly, what's the point of adding "FOR GIRLS ONLY!" when clearly anyone can (and will) answer if they feel the urge to. I have answered several "Guys Only" picks because why would my opinion matter any less just because I'm a girl?
Even as I write this, I feel like I'm complaining. Look, in my opinion I don't think people even think about it. But then I have to stop and ask myself... "If they aren't thinking about it, why add the stipulation at all? Why put it in capital letters? Why add exclamation points?"
I mean, what do anda guys think? Am I membaca too much into this? Is this heterosexism, and if so, is it intentional atau unintentional? If not, do anda think these stipulations are necessary? What are their purposes?
Talk to me, guys. Convince me I'm not crazy here.
And go see the movie "link" with Sean Penn.

Many of anda may not agree with me and I don't expect anyone to do so, maybe some of anda like a few spots on the one topic and some of anda don't, I like fanpop just the way it is, the lebih spots, the better.
Monday: Work on the spot I've created.
Tuesday: Contribute to other spots and gabung new ones.
Wednesday: Check my profil and learn lebih about my fans.
Thursday: Go through every video, picture, article, wallpaper etc. and save and rate my favorites.
Friday: Find new material to add to all of my favorit spots.
Saturday: Have one hari to go all around the whole of fanpop, I may not do anything but I might find something new.
Sunday: Try not to turn the computer on, who am I kidding?
And almost every hari I must remember to check my mail, it seems like a lot to do but it's fun anyway and if you're anything like me, someone who can stay on the computer for hours at a time? remember to take breaks at least every half an jam to avoid headaches. Have Fun.
