Say the character’s appearance is completely obscured and appears only once or twice in a 20+ chapter fic. Does this make this story a crossover?

I’m writing a story and have already posted two chapters in the fandom of the character it’s about (YYH anime). However this story is a cast off from a crossover (my main fic) and I have discovered (thanks very much to my excessive attention to detail) that I am unable to entirely avoid mentioning the other character (Inuyasha) an entirely different story/fandom. I do not want to convert it, but it’s becoming harder to steer away from the aspects that connect the main character to the crossover. So what do you think? Is there a way that I can get away with this without converting my story? And further more can a story be accepted as a crossover when the other character is mentioned maybe once or twice, or is not enlisted as a main character but merely something that gets observed from a distance?

I need to know this before I post my chapter three. What I can and can not put in it. because right now I can't decide >.<

I ask too many questions xD So, so long as the other character is obscured and vague it won't force me to convert it?

I hope this is right, because this is something that I really don't want to have to do.

If they are from another fandom, then yes.

If I was reading something which was labelled a crossover but found that there was only a brief cameo for the second fandom, I think I'd be disappointed.
