I like her. She's my third favorite.

Perhaps she was a little concided

Ariel's okay but I think she kinda selfish and she got what she wanted and that's what I don't like

I don't hate her, she may be selfish. But, she must be doing something right. She opens up her father's heart by overcoming his hatred towards humans.

She's okay... I think she's a bit too selfish and headstrong, but I think she learned her lesson, at the end.

Hate is such a strong word, especially when we're talking about animated characters.

But I strongly dislike her. She's selfish, spoiled and used to get anything she wants. I hate the fact that she didn't care about her family and her friends. She just left them for the first guy she saw. I also dislike that she's quite stupid and gullible. And I don't like her attitude.

True, she can lack in the common sense department, but that's why I love her. Fuck the perfect heroines who never make a mistake, fuck the heroes who never make a mistake -- give me some humanity and relatability here!

I never hate ariel. I love airel. She is my favoite disney princess at all times.

I hate her, she left everything behind for a GUY!

I hate her because I think she's selfish and inconsiderate.

She constantly rushes headlong into dangerous or reckless situations without thinking of the consequences, has to get bailed out when said consequences come to bite her in the tail (What? You mean signing a Deal With the Devil could result in the Obviously Evil Sea Witch coming to collect?), doesn't appreciate the help others give, doesn't regret her earlier actions, and just gets ready to do it again.

She does whatever she wants, whenever she wants, however she wants, without any regard for how her actions affect others, doesn't care when people tell her that her actions negatively affect them (*cough*Sebastian*cough*), and has absolutely no gratitude when others risk themselves to help her. (Sebastian: "I hope you appreciate everything I do for you!" Ariel: blows him off.)

She never considers the feelings of others, never helps others out with their problems, and in fact spends all her time causing other people grief or putting them in danger because of her aforementioned self-serving antics, and yet SOMEHOW everyone loves her and trips over themselves to help her.

Over all, I think she's a selfish, terrible person.

I don't hate her - hate is a potent thing and it's weird to spend it on someone who doesn't even exist.
But yeah she's dumb, selfish and annoying. Not a fan.

I don't think selfish is the right word. Ariel doesn't totally think of just herself; she just doesn't consider how her choices will affect others. Self absorbed maybe (I do think there is a difference but it's hard to explain.)

But yeah. She doesn't have bad intentions but that isn't enough to make me love her. Also, I dislike how she takes all she has for granted- a loving family, the whole ocean to explore, Sebastian who almost dies to make her happy. She never thanks anyone. Spoiled Youngest Child Syndrome I guess. That's what irks me the most.

Also, other princesses regularly get called stupid for understandable mistakes (or things that arent bad at all) while nobody in universe calls Ariel out for trusting a witch or not realizing at dinner that forks are obviously not for hair, and these same people usually ignore this about her.

Well, at least there is some love for Ariel in the outside world, even if most of the people on Fanpop hate her.

I don't find other princesses' mistakes "more understandable." They made bad errors just as much as Ariel did. Nope. The one princess on Fanpop who regularly gets called stupid is Ariel. The other princesses do not get called "stupid" for making mistakes, but Ariel does get that trashy label regularly. Ariel actually does get called out "in-universe" for her errors, but people who hate her always pretend that that didn't happen in the movie. How convenient to believe Ariel never redeemed herself, when the movie shows her fighting off Ursula's takeover.

Based on the TV miniseries and the prequel, Ariel doesn't have a "wonderful family life." I never understand why people think she takes everything for granted. A person who protects outcasts under the sea, helps Sebastian maintain his position as King Triton's advisor, and saves Sebastian and Flounder repeatedly... is taking everything under the sea for granted? HARDLY.

A large number of people on Fanpop clearly don't hate Tiana for kissing a frog to obtain money for her restaurant, nor do they despise Merida for turning her mother into a bear over not wanting to get married. They don't shower heaps of criticism on Rapunzel for trusting Mother Gothel, nor Belle for visiting the West Wing against the Beast's express orders not to. But they sure think Ariel was the worst for trusting witchy Ursula. How come weak moments are allowed for every one of the other princesses, but every hater expects something perfect out of Ariel? Ariel would NEVER have gone to see Ursula, period, if big bad old daddy King Triton hadn't chosen to break her dream.

@the haters/ dislikers: So you respect the dreams of all other Disney princesses, except for the dream Ariel had. Ariel's dream and her pursuit of it, you label wrong. You want her punished for her mistakes, while no other princess in the lineup gets truly punished for their bad mistakes. Talk about blatant hypocrisy.
