It has atypical yet extremely unique music & setting, the score is fantastic, the cast is wonderful, the plot is unique and different....It's just so different from your typical classic disney film. It's not cutesy, romance isn't the main focus....everything about it surpasses disney's other films. Again, The Lion King is by no means my favorite disney film. We all know The Little Mermaid is. But I'd consider Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs & Cinderella to be in second place, and those are in no WAY my favorites. Not only does it have great music and beautiful animation, it's got great characters and a great basis (it's very loosely based off Hamlet). BatB and TLM are tied for second in that category. I think the Lion King is really good, probably because it's based on Hamlet which I adore. I find HBOND also great. In my opinion it has the best Disney soundtrack and great characters. But to be honest, from what I see/hear, BatB AND The Lion King are both considered Disney's best. So many people love TLK, even people who aren't huge fans of Disney. If people are embarrased about liking Disney, they won't be embarrased to say that Lion King is awesome. So yeah, I think both BatB and TLK are considered the best of Disney. Beauty and the Beast is the 2nd or 3rd best Disney film imo, along with Bambi which I think is a masterpiece too.
