The only similarities between Jasmine and any of the other characters is Tiana's eyes. I've always thought that Ariel and Belle looked alike and Tiana is basically an African American version of Belle with Jasmine's eyes. I don't mind it. I also don't see too much resemblance between Rapunzel and the Frozen princesses. Oh, the resemblance is there but it's not as clear as people think. I think the real laziness was the design of Honey Lemon as a geeky Rapunzel instead of giving her, her own design. I think the others look fine and are unique enough, but Honey Lemon's design is really annoying.

Elsa, Anna, and Rapunzel have more similarities than Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, and Tiana. Jasmine and Tiana at least have ethnic markers identifying them as non-white and not just white princesses with darker skin. Ariel and Belle look similar but there are enough differences in their eyes, face shape, etc. that you can't make the argument that they're just palette swapped versions of each other. My biggest problem though is not with the comparisons to Rapunzel (although her overall character design is being reused, especially with Honey Lemon), but the fact that Elsa, Anna, and their mother literally have the exact same face except for some minor tweaking that you need a magnifying glass to see. Rapunzel and her mother looked similar but her mother had enough differences to stand as her own character. Elsa, Anna, and their mother look like they could be triplets!

Ariel, Jasmine, Belle and Tiana do NOT all look similar apart from all happening to be young women.

I don't think they - Ariel, Belle, Jasmine and Tiana - look that similar. They follow a mold and the style that was in use in animation during the time their movies were made. Just like Snow White and Cinderella do. But they don't have "sameface syndrome", unlike Anna and Elsa.

Honestly,if they look at all alike it's because they are all made by the same company! I mean come on! It's just their signature look. Yes they are similar! But go through your own drawings and tell me they don't have your own personal touch to them,something that sets them apart from someone else's. It's because it was pinned by the same person. Same for Disney they are pinned by the same group of drawers so it's just their personal touch that makes them a little similar.

Really? Huge doe eyes (Ariel + Belle and Jasmine + Tia having the same lashes type), small mouths, heart shaped faces, full cheeks, small noses except for Tiana... why do they not look alike? just because two aren't white? Because nonwhites can look just as similar as whites. Especially Belle and Tia for what KL said. I get the nasty feeling race has a lot to do with this.

And ethnic doesn't mean not white. The small, upturned nose Anna has, for example, is pretty Scandinavian (an ethnicity), and freckles are an attribute many whites have.

I don't even remember people getting this mad over Rapunzel looking like Ariel, and they look way more alike than the sisters- these two could be twins, especially in Rapunzel's concept.

In what world does Jasmine have a small nose? Tiana's nose is smaller than hers, it's just wider. I also think that Rapunzel looks like Ariel, except her eyes are bigger. Why does Disney have to make their CGI female characters have big eyes when their love interests have small eyes?

These pick choices are bullshit because you're basically saying the answers are hypocrisy or nothing. Those 4 have the same standard outline (large eyes, cute nose, skinny, but with curves) but they have very distinctively different looks - as opposed to anna, elsa , and rapunzel who look like lazy carbon copies of one another. These pick choices back everyone into a corner.

Yeah, a little bit. Rapunzel, Anna and Elsa's designs have been talked about to death, but the Renaissance DPs' similarities aren't criticized nearly that much.

I don't know. Alice and Wendy look pretty much identical in facial features (because their appearances are both inspired by Kathryn Beaumont) but Ariel, Belle, Jasmine and Tiana...well, they look different enough.
I agree with a lot of you. I do notice similarities in them sometimes in certain shots or with certain facial expressions, but I think they mostly have their own look. They do have the same animators.
That goes the same with Anna/Elsa and Rapunzel. Anna/Elsa don't look exactly like Rapunzel, but there are certain shots/expressions that remind me of her.
And since it came up, I see similarities in Honey Lemon and Rapunzel.

I don't see what's wrong with Other as a choice, as most have done. No was partly just a joke anyway, like yours often are, but it's true, you either don't mind it or you do. and it seems like people only complain because this era seems to be a decided one of complaining about everything Disney does, while this hyper-critical attitude didn't exist in the 90s or even as badly when Tiana was made, so nobody noticed or minded.

I think both groups look very similar, but for every different trait any of you can name about the 2D girls, I can find about the new girls. To me Ariel, Belle and Tiana (and 2D Rapunzel) look almost exactly the same as you all say Elsa, Anna and Punz do, but I don't gripe over it. Disney does certain styles over the years and while more unique features would be nice, I accept it. My whining can't force them to change.

Tiana's eyes shape are a little similar to Jasmine's eyes, but nothing more.

my ex-boyfriend whos least interest is Disney and really doesnt know anything about Disney princess says that Belle and Ariel are the same except the hairstyle...so i dont really know what kind of impression people have that are not familiar with Disney.

The hand-drawn princesses only have a little similarities to each other (eyes, for the example) unlike the 3D fair-skinned princesses.
