M_gann Nice article. Also not judging, but how do you know you don't like Meirda if you've never watched her movie?

Sparklefairy375 I'm confuse how can you dislike Merida if you still haven't watched her movie yet? Rapunzel's pink dress is nice but still can't beat the purple one. For Merida's usual dress, I agree that it's simple, dark, and kinda boring but it looks comfort and she can move easily with that dress. Although her princess dress is tight and uncomfortable but it has beautiful design and colors, it's the light blue and some gold decoration. Based from the look, I like it slightly better than her usual dress. And I agree that the wimple looks ugly.

MaidofOrleans Good article! I agree with the others that you shouldn't pass judgment on her until you've seen the movie. Personally she has my number 1 favorite wardrobe of all the princesses. I love the colors her wardrobe uses, as well as the shape of all her dresses. They aren't over the top, but they are simple and elegant. Yeah, she was created to be the anti-princess, but that's actually precisely why I think she fits well in the lineup. If all the princesses were the same then the lineup would be super boring.

Sparklefairy375 ^I agree, I can't imagine if the Princess lineup would have almost similar Princesses, like Snow, Cindy, Aurora, etc. It would be boring and no variations on it.

Angelica_AW Yeah, I don't like Merida either.... She's awful. As for her outfits... I don't really have a favourite.... Maybe her princess gown?? The colours and design are nice.

wavesurf @AndyB: Merida doesn't fit into the DP lineup all that well, and you're not the first one to realize that. The user Disnerdtobe said it best, "Merida is the anti-princess-anti-tomboy." Merida is basically the polar opposite of everything the Disney Princess lineup used to stand for. We see loyalty, kindness, generosity, friendliness, valor in saving other characters, patience, gracefulness, humor, and honor in most of the princesses from Snow White to Rapunzel. In Merida, we just see the flip-side: meanness, hatred, rudeness, cruelty, self-centered obstinacy, name-calling, and a huge lack of maturity in Merida when she doesn't get what she wants. Real people actually act like Merida does nearly all of the time in real life. They take advantage of someone, and then make a huge mistake that hurts that specific person, and then they come by later to apologize, and hope you'll forgive them? Yup, that's Merida and most people you run into. Merida is just a reflection of life lived off-screen. So Merida isn't very interesting to me for that reason alone. I can turn off Brave and see the exact same thing happening all of the time. The Meridas of the world are ubiquitous. So Merida is kind of boring to me by this point. Yeah, I like Merida in some ways, but I'm not a huge Merida stan. Merida just fumes at everybody in Brave, and she throws explosive tantrums a lot. If you do decide to watch it, well, you've been warned. Merida's outfits are plain, like you said. But most of them at least look comfortable to wear. I absolutely hate the light blue gown with the gold trim because it is so infernally "tight-looking," so I'm happy enough when Merida destroys it. The wimple and coronet thing just reminded me of nuns and seclusion. It was an odd choice of a wardrobe/costume design for Merida's fiercely independent and rude personality to be wearing that.
