There was only a handful of people at the funeral. Deb’s vision was blurred from the tears, and she gasped when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and saw Susan, who, apparently, had been diberikan furlough to go to her brother’s funeral.
She embraced Susan, and whispered: “I’m so sorry”, in her ears. She could feel Susan’s shoulders heave and swallowed back her own tears. She felt she had to be strong, for Susan.
Susan pulled back, and Deb cupped her face. “I promise you” she berkata softly, while drying Susan’s tears with her thumbs, “they won’t get away with this. I will make them pay”
Susan nodded, and then walked past Deb, to Joseph’s grave. Deb respectfully kept her distance. She heard footsteps behind her.
“Who is that?” Jennifer asked, and Deb fought the urge to meninju, pukulan her in the face.
“Why do anda care?” she hissed hostile. “What are anda even doing here?”
“I wanted to pay my respects” Jennifer replied. “And I wanted to ask anda to keep your mouth shut”
Deb turned to Jennifer. “You’re asking me to turn a blind eye?” she asked disgusted. She shook her head baffled. “I can’t do that. Your friends killed someone, and anda just stood there”
“We didn’t mean to kill him” Jennifer pleaded desperately, casting a quick side glance at Susan. “If anda tell the cops, you’ll ruin our future”
“People who kill, shouldn’t be cops in the first place” Deb fired back.
