Yes. It bothers me. Sex is a huge part of romanticism. It's a natural part of life and it's also important in love and romance. I know it is to me. The fact that Damon can't have sex does bother me rather greatly and I don't think Bonnie is going to find satisfaction sexually with Damon. Bonnie is a human and she has emotions, especially sexual emotions. I've never really thought about it before, but now that Bonnie is growing up and is now maturing into an adult and also, with the recent spoilers about the book suggesting that Bonnie is in a relationship with Zander (someone who is actually able to have sexual intercourse), it's become a huge issue for me. The same goes for Stefan and Elena as well.

I swear, I saw this same subject brought up in a Bamon fanfic once, Damon gave a rather interesting theory on how he could possibly have sex that left Bonnie slightly grossed out.

But to me, this raises more questions, if they can't get an erection because they're dead; how can they bleed? How can they even bleed from the upper part of their bodies since blood pools to the lower extremities in death? Since blood pools to the lower part of your body in death, shouldn't the blood swapping scenes involve someone cutting a foot? Honestly, I think this was done to avoid writing about sex in a book written for teens.

People marry others who are fighting cancer, about to become paralyzed or are in wheel chairs. They married them even though they cannot have sex because they love them. And if Bonnie does love Damon she will overlook everything else

LJ Smith didn't want TVD to be a dirty teen novel, thats why they don't get drunk,get high,rape or have casual sex. It was meant to be more "clean" I think she planned to turn Damon and Stefan both human in the end to marry Bonnie and Elena

But they kinda do. The sex is always implied, but never talked about I'm detail like in the average romance novel. But in the dance in the first book, you have drinking from Tyler and Dick who were not only drunk, but spiked the punch. Later on, Tyler tried to force himself on Elena leading to Stefan rescuing her and the start of the Stelena romance.

But I agree, I think everything in L.J. Smith's writing pointed to those two endgames. Too bad no one sent that memo to Alloy.

For me, it does bother me a little bit, considering that now that I've seen the show and everything, the vampires on there are highly sexual and have sex a lot. Damon on the show has sex a lot and in the books, it was heavily implied that Damon was a highly sexual being when he was a human, implying that he slept with a lot of women during his young human years. Stefan, I strongly believe, has been with a few girls himself during his young human life, since during the Renaissance period, boys were already having romantic/sexual relationships with girls by the age of 14. So, it is my own firm belief that Stefan had quite a few romantic or sexual relationships with girls himself before he met Katherine. Although, I think that when Stefan engaged in sexual activity, it was more about love, attraction, and romance. With Damon, it was more about womanizing, fun, short term flings. Hell, Damon was such a highly sexual being during his human years that it wouldn't surprise me if Damon actually experimented with other men, making Damon bisexual.

iLauren, look the reason LJ Smith made Elena a virgin even though she could have done it with Matt was because she wanted to have this purity thing going on. And if you noticed the bad guys were the ones who got drunk and wanted to rape girls. I always sort of knew that she believed that causal sex was not the way to go, and that you should only give your body to the one you love. And I am a firm believer that LJ Smith planned to turn both Salvatores human in order to have that high intensity romantic relationship with Bonnie and Elena instead of screwing random chicks.

^ LMAO. No, I love Damon, well Book!Damon anyways (Show!Damon has been irritating me since Season 2), but I'm saying that it could be a possible theory. Men during that time period had affairs with other men just as much as women. In fact, many men during the period of the Renaissance engaged in sexual activity with other men. During Renaissance period, homosexuality was very evident. I'm not necessarily saying that this is a fact in the case of Damon. I'm saying that it could be possible, considering how much of a sexual being Damon was during his human life. Stefan was not the playboy that Damon was, that is why I believe that Damon might have been bi-curious or might have experimented with maybe one or a few men. It's really not that far fetched when you think about it. Don't get me wrong, I've always seen Stefan and Damon as straight and they are straight in canon, but if I had to choose which brother was more likely to experiment, it would probably be Damon.

BTW, there's nothing wrong with bisexuality. IMO, it's completely acceptable and people who are bisexual are more likely than others to be comfortable with their sexuality, in which Damon is.

It urked me because Damon is straight and I thought you were implying that Damon would leave Bonnie for a guy which didn't sit right with me. Back in the Renaissance people were very faithful, especially in Italy with the pope and all. Damon was a italian, catholic noblemen who I doubt was bisexual as it would go against his background. There is nothing wrong with bisexuality its just that back then it wasn't exactly what most people were into acting on because of reputation/church and it was looked down upon.
Also I think in LJ Smith's vision Damon was not bisexual, he was just a guy who liked flirting with lots of maidens as she wrote in one of her emails. Not that there is anything wrong with being bisexual its just that Damon isn't one.

I'm asexual, so it doesn't really bother me. I know from experience that it's possible to be in a romantic relationship without sex, even if you're asexual and the other person isn't.
