Depends on how you view it. I'd call him a pervert, not a full-out pedophile. Jacob can be considered a pedophile and in a way, so can Bella. She WAS in love with Jacob when she was 18 and he was 16 (or 17).

You have to fit a certain criteria to be a pedophile. Bella's not a pedophile either, since Jacob wasn't prepubescent, and 16 is legal age of concent in Washington

Well people consider him a pedophile for being SO much older than Bella and prowling on her as if he was her age. Although that doesn't necessarily make him a pedophile, I can see why people think that way. The Courtney Stodden/Doug Hutchinson thing can work as an example. Yes it was legal for her to marry him (she was 16 and he was 51 or so) but it's still weird and people can still see him as a pedophile for being SO much older than Courtney. Edward was 90-100 years older than Bella which is why people see it as disgusting. It's kind of stupid to think that way. Do they expect Edward to date someone born before 19whenever he died? It honestly depends on how you see it.

I used Jacob as an opinion for the whole Renesmee thing. Like I said before, it depends on how you look at their relationship. Some (including myself) argue that it's creepy for a wolf to (in a way) fall in love with a baby. Others think that it's cute and SEE it as a father/daughter or brother/sister relationship.

So in both cases, yes it is an opinion.

People who consider him, or that other guy you mention, a pedophile, are wrong.
Just because you're misusing the word, doesn't make it an opinion.

People can't just go around changing cold hard facts into "opinions", by pretending the word doesn't have an actually meaning, just so they can't be told they're wrong.

Pedofile has a clear definition, which Edward doesn't fit in any shape or form. Bella was 17 years old at the time they met and prior to their wedding which happened AFTER she hitted 18 and officially became a legal adult they didn't even have sexual relationship.

He may have lived a century more than her, but they're of similar physical ages. Same for Renesmee and Jake, when she does come of age and they become a couple. If you use actual number of years lived for age instead of physical maturity, most of the pairings in the story would be considered paedophilic or cradle snatching.

Edward is not a pedophile for two reasons. First, a pedophile is someone who is sexually attracted to pre-pubescent children, so Bella is definitely too old for Edward to be in pedophile territory. And second, in Washington State, the age of consent is 16; Edward and Bella are both 17 in Twilight and Bella is 18 in the other books, which means that Bella is at a legal age to have sex with Edward, and vice versa.
