Why did Cristina give Meredith the blue post-its and the pen since she didn't know what Derek was going to do with it?

the post it notes was her grocery daftar something old. the pen was something blue & borrowed and something new, well i forget that....

but it was the whole something new, old, blue, borrowed thing. so she had them. :)
