The reason why I made this poll is because I'm in an interfaith relationship myself. I'm a Lutheran Christian and my boyfriend is a Neo-Druid. I don't feel any shame or guilt for it and neither does he, but there have been people (ex: my parents, some of my friends) who have expressed concern about it. I tried to make this pick as unbiased as possible, so that neither side of the topic would be offended.

I was in interfaith relationship as well: me Catholic - him Muslim, we hadn’t had any issues cause we aren’t orthodox. Both his and my family didn’t like it because of stereotypes of each religion, but friends didnt’t mind.
Besides I think that it boards your horisonts and you learn more about world from each other.

I personally think it's great! Mixing two cultures together is a nice way of learning about other religions :)

i mean. my god goes against christianity and starclan but what if i like some one from those religions? I MIGHT BE HATED BY MY OWN GOD!! but i'm not quite sure ....my god MIGHT allow it if we make a deal....

I think as long as both parties are open minded and understanding, there wouldn't be too much of an issue. My boyfriend and I kind of have that going. He's a soft-polytheistic Wiccan and I'm a hard-polytheistic Heathen. Our faiths don't mesh very well, but it works. He understands and respects that those are my beliefs, and I understand and respect that those are his.

With the exception of planning our wedding (which, to be fair, is more an issue with making our non-Pagan friends and family members feel comfortable), so far we haven't had any problems.

Another thing about it too is that while I am a Christian, I'm not devout. I've knowingly done some things that the Bible says are sinful and interestingly my boyfriend was actually Agnostic when we started dating four years ago. It wasn't until over a year later that he converted to Neo-Druidism. And the two of us accept each others' religions and lately we've only had minor problems in our relationship because of it (primarily my parents and friends' thoughts about it). While I am aware that it's considered wrong for Christians to be in relationships with non-Christians, we respect each others' differences in religious beliefs and we love each other deeply, in fact my boyfriend and I are going to marry in September.

i think it's fine as long as both of you respect eachother's religion and don't try to get the other to convert. and usually when two people in an interfaith relationship have kids that's when it becomes a problem...so dont let it become a problem when that happens. Congrats about getting married to him btw!!! :D

when it comes to kids i think u should expose them to both religions without forcing it on them and let them chose.

Well, it's a delicate matter. Some religions will be very firm and strict about their rules while others will be laid back. As for Christians, our Holy Book, The Bible, says that we are not to be "...yoked together with unbelievers..." (2 Corinthians6:14).

I don't think I'll ever find someone who's my religion anyway.

While it is obvious that differences can (and will) clash, it's also not impossible to work things out. If they love each other enough, they can overcome anything. And that's what relationships are based on: Communication and understanding. Not whether you have the same views or not.

I mean, it depends on the religions, but there are some religions that believe that it is wrong, and it makes sense. You are going to be with this person forever and it will be hard to do if you are disagreeing on morals and beliefs and how to raise children.

The Bible warns Christians against being unequally yoked. As a Christian, I do not think it is wise for Christians to marry someone who does not follow Jesus. Often, either their faith, their marriage, or both may suffer.
