I always felt the romance Buffy and Angel was forced, Buffy and Spike grew naturally closer over the years. Plus Spike loved Buffy even without a soul, can't say that for Angel, can't we?

spike however loved Buffy even though he was evil (he even had the chance to shoot her but once he saw her crying and he went comfort her), he was always straight with her, he went literally to the ends of the earth to get a soul for her (where as angelus was cursed) he sacrificed himself for her and has never brooded and been all miserable on her

I definately am an bangel fan. Buffy and Angel's world revolved around each other. Even when she "took a break" in season 3, they still cared for each other. Heck, he ripped out a demon's heart to save her from going insane. Angel was definately Buffy's true love...even Riley realized that. It didn't matter who B. was with, her heart was still with Angel. Yeah, Spike loved her even when he was evil and he went to the ends of the earth to become the man he thought she wanted, but they never had the same love for each other that Buffy and Angel displayed. Angel love her so much he left her. He came to the conclusion that he could never give Buffy everything he believed she deserved. That huge sacrifice on his part convinced me just how much he loved her.

Oh gosh. Done now with the sappy nonsense. To get rid of all that icky-sticky mumbo-jumbo I'm and Bangel fan and always will be :)

Angel left and got his own show because Bangel had gone as far as it could as long as Angel is a vampire and is cursed, can't say I was bored of it...that's why four years after he left they still have their moments in Chosen.

Anegl and buffy were amazing but i always liked buffy and spike, they grew more in love over the years. and i think its nice how he went to evil to good, and he eventually wnet to the other end of the earth to get a soul for her.....angel was cursed with one, but spike had a choice to get one.

Of course he was like Angel...he just didn't have an actual soul that made him feel guilty about the things he did so he didn't have to brood.

Spike gets to be Angel without the guilt...that's all. Even when he does get his soul he only goes crazy in the basement for a couple of weeks then he's all ok, it's not like he has nightmares about the thousands of people he killed.

Ok people what is with all of this talk about Buffy and Spike being so in love with each other? Yes Spike was totally in love with Buffy, but she was never in love with him. Buffy never even said that she loved Spike until the last episode of season 7 and that was only because he was going to die and she knew that he wanted to hear that before he died! Spike even told Buffy that he knew she didn't mean it after she said it.

And the whole thing about Spike going to the ends of the earth to get a soul for Buffy and Angel just getting cursed with a soul! The reason that Spike fell for Buffy was because of the chip that got implanted in his brain. I mean think about it, Spike hated Buffy and didn't show any real interest in her until after the chip was implanted! That is the real reason!

Anyways, if Buffy really ever loved Spike back, then in season 5 of Angel when Spike and Angel go to Rome to stop Buffy from dating The Immortal why didn't she dump him and take Spike back. I will tell you why, it is because she never truly loved him. If you really love someone you don't stay with someone else when the guy that you "love" (notice my quotation marks) came chasing after you.

I think that Buffy and Angel are the cutiest couple because through the series of both Angel and Buffy the vampire slayer they both love each other. Then Season 5 when Spike finally realizes he loves buffy . Buffy freaked out when he told her. Then season 6 buffy used spike to sleep with him to able to feel. But spike thought she loved him but when spike slept with anya on the table at the magic box but saw what happened in the computer and she broke down . Buffy went to the magic box to stop xander to seek revenage over spike for sleeping with his ex . Buffy's secert was realived from spike telling Anya and Xander the relationship with buffy. After that spike raped buffy and stop him and went to get a soul . Just like Angel but Spike made a deal a demon to get a soul. Angel was cursed by a gsypy . At the end of End of days buffy was fighting calb then Angel stop him and Buffy kissed him but spike saw the whole thing. even he knew that buffy still has feelings for Angel

i know in season 6 he did not have a soul and all but i still can't forgive some of the things that he did, and i don't mean the whole rape-anya thing but the fact that he did not help her to come out of her darkness rather than puss her more away from her friends and life.

Angel was Buffy's first love. But, she was young and their whole relationship was cute in a teeny-bopper kind of way. But, as previously mentioned, Joss knew the relationship was doomed to BOREDOM. There's only so much angsty love drama that can come from Bangel. Joss has explored basically every area-- heck, he even turned Angel human for an episode so the Bangel fans could get their sugar fix.

Personally, I thought it was kind of dull and corny. Angel's whole character is kind of dull, or at least he was throughout his BtVS role. Spike has so much more going on. We get to see his feelings for Buffy develop through the seasons. I mean, he loved her when he was evil, when it went against everything his nature told him. Yes, he had the chip, but he still went out of his way to save her [ie- Season 5, when Tara's spell made demons invisible to the scoobies]. His love for Buffy went beyond Angel's, for all the aforementioned reasons and more.

Also, @ Joker -- Spike is so not an Angel copy. That thought is preposterous. Y'know, plus there's no way David could pull off that hair like James does.

I definately am a big bangel fan, and i think that they will always be conected in some whey , and cared for each other. he was here first love , and i hope here last =)

When Angel doesn't have a soul he doesn't care about Buffy - at all! Yeh i agree he's evil and cant control it but his evil side is still apart of him - he said in an angel episode it's always there tempting him to be evil again.

BUT Spike DOES care about Buffy when he's evil - he loves her - crazy - but still true AND he loves her when he's good ALL of Spike loves Buffy. Which i think is really sweet!

And i think that unlike Angel who she loved almost instantly Buffy grew to really love Spike - he really understood her - and she trusted him!

Bangel all the way. The deciding factor for me is that this was a mutual love, which Spuffy wasn't. In season 6 it was mutually destructive and violent, alienating Buffy further from her life and friends and completely fuelling her lack of self-worth and her depression. In season 7, they have a lot of lovely (and funny of course, since this is Spike!) interaction, and they build up a friendship that could lead to a relationship given a lot of time. But Buffy doesn't love Spike, even he knows that. Whereas she clearly does love Angel, all the way through the series despite their separation, and he loves her. Plus they're just so darn cute and passionate and have such a deep connection! :-D

The talk of Angelus being evil is kind of irrelevant as far as I can see, unless people are arguing that Spuffy in season 6 is a GOOD relationship?!?!!?? Which I sincerely hope they're not, because it was an incredibly damaging relationship for both Buffy & Spike. But unless people are defending this as a good relationship, Angelus' evilness is irrelevant as a comparison. Of course he's evil! As is Spike without a soul (attempted rape, continuous violence, his immediate attempt to kill once he thinks his chip is malfunctioning, to name just a few). And he didn't love Buffy at this point, he was incapable of love, as Angelus is, because he had no soul. I will never be able to believe Spike loved Buffy before season 7 - he came as close as possible given the circumstances, but not that close! - not least because he tried to rape her. I'm not saying Angelus wouldn't have done the same, I'm sure would given the chance, but I'm also not ever going to argue that Angelus loved Buffy!

Therefore, even leaving aside all the many many appeals of Bangel, the fact is that the only 'romantic' (very loose use of the word haah!) relationship Spike & Buffy had was in season 6, which was a horrible relationship (though obviously important plot-wise). They had a possible foundation for a relationship in season 7, but didn't have the time to get there.

My reasoning:

1. Spike loves her with or without his soul.
2. Angel's idea of true happiness is having sex with a 17-year-old girl. The happiest time of Spike's life was spent watching the woman he loves sleeping.
3. I personally dislike Angel. So I am automatically biased toward Spuffy.
4. Spike and Buffy got together after they had known each other for a few years, rather than after meeting 6 times, with the only exchanges being cryptic warnings. It has more of a foundation.
5. Spike is a decent person by choice, and can be one with or without his soul. Angel was stable around humans because he ate an innocent gypsy girl.
6. Buffy and Spike together is just the most adorable thing ever.
7. I can't think of anything to back this up right now, but Buffy seems to have more in common with Spike than she did with Angel.

I don't mean to offend Angel fans. This is just based off my personal opinion.

1. Spike did not love Buffy without a soul. He tried to rape her, which is incontrovertible proof that he did not love her. Anyone arguing differently worries me to be honest.
2. Angel's idea of true happiness is the acceptance and love that Buffy gives him, regardless of the sins which he believes make him unworthy of love. It is her complete trust in him and love for him that allows him to feel at peace with his soul, and at that time it just happened that making love to him is the simplest way she can show him this. The sex isn't the important part, it's the emotion behind it that made it so powerful and made Angel so happy. He was able to see himself as Buffy saw him, to finally believe in himself through her love for him.
3. Haha nothing to argue against here, since that's just personal opinion.
4. Angel and Buffy didn't begin a relationship until season 2, after they'd known each other for well over year - a time in which they had fought side by side, learnt to rely on each other etc. The fact that they had an immediate attraction and connection doesn't mean that their relationship had no foundation, since it still developed over a long period of time. Besides, Spike and Buffy simply progressed from enemies that hated each other to a bizarre truce in which they shared a disturbing, damaging sexual relationship in which Buffy did not trust Spike in the least. It was only in season 7 that they began to develop a foundation for anything resembling a meaningful healthy relationship and even then it never came to fruition.
5. Personally I don't think this is particularly relevant, since the way in which Angel got his soul back, or either of their behaviour without a soul, in my opinion has no bearing on their relationships with Buffy (other than obviously being important in Spike's case during season 6, but I wouldn't argue this is in any way a good relationship, so I think it's kind of unfair to Spike to make it relevant). However, since you bring it up, Spike frequently does awful things during the only relationship he ever actually has with Buffy (in season 6), e.g. the rape, the way in which he immediately tries to kill again when he thinks his chip is malfunctioning, the way he treats Buffy.... etc etc. He is only ever "a decent person" in order to get what he wants - Buffy. He doesn't do it for any moral reasons, but because he wants to win Buffy over, and the way in which he treats Buffy while they are sleeping together is for the most part awful, which is mutual! He dictates his behaviour based on his own selfish motivations and desires.
6. I don't agree. But again, just personal opinion. Although I do think their interaction in season 7 is sweet at times, they will never equal Bangel in adorable-ness in my eyes!
7. I don't know what you mean, but I always felt it was the contrary.... But again, just my opinion!

Spike is totally better than Angel. Compare them as humans. Spike was a poet..he really loved his mother and treated her so good. So, he was better person before he was sired. then, it's obvious that Spike without his soul is way better than Angelus. And finally Spike is better as a vampire with a soul which is clear from Angel Season 5. Someone told that Spike fell in love with Buffy because he had this chip.. but it's not true. Spike felt smth for Buffy from the moment he saw her for the first time - dancing in Bronze. I do like Angel, really. And their love with Buffy was real and cute..first love. But Buffy and Spike..they like were meant for each other. They understand each other, trust, rely on each other..and sexually - they are definately good match. so.. I wish they just had more time..

Buffy hurt him, drove him towards trying to rape her. It wasn't really his fault, I'm sure she said no to him many times but meant the opposite. And yet, Spike felt so horrible he went and endured torture so he could try and make himself into what she wanted. In season seven, Buffy's feelings towards him showed so many times, it was obvious she loved him, and a horrible shame he didn't believe her when she told him so.

Spuffy all the way. Bangel was really hard to watch, with the dramatic and constant fighting. Spike and Buffy's relationship had more growth. Spike was devoted to Buffy throughout. Hell, he got a soul for her. Angel just left.

I loved both Bangel and Spuffy. Bangel as a perfect fairytale and Spuffy as..well, not. Spike wasn't always perfect, her relationship with him had its bad and good moments. I always felt like it was more real.
I think that Buffy loved Angel more but I still think that Spuffy was way more interesting so I chose Spuffy. And I chose it because I felt sorry a lot for Spike because most of the time Buffy considered him a joke and he fought for his soul for her. Maybe he tried to rape her and was rough to her without a soul but he was still a better man than Angelus without a soul.

I love both couples but Bangel shall forever and always remain my favourite. I'm allowed to like Skuffy as well.
