I love Korra, but Avatar was my childhood. Gotta stay true.

It is infinitely better in every single way. The setting is better, the plot is better, the characters are much better, the fighting is better... need I go on? Aside from the cute/cool designs for spirits, I can't think of a single thing I prefer about LoK. They make the old characters out to have been bad parents! Why would they do that? The humour sucks as well, compared to the old series. There isn't even as much bending. I like the nods to the old series, but whenever I watch one I just want to watch the old series again. I can't stand Korra, Mako, Bolin, Milo, Iki, Lin or Tenzin; I probably just spelled lots of their names wrong, but I don't really care. They all really annoy me in some respect. The rest of the characters introduced in LoK are boring, in my opinion (apart from the villains, who are actually pretty awesome, but they always lose, so...).
