anime Article: *Don't Hate, Tolerate!*

Hey! 👋 Some of anda may know me and some of anda may not. But yeah, this is the first artikel I'm making so it might not be that good. But anyways, on to the topic here!

For a while now, everything here on the anime Club has been peaceful ☮, but that all changes when one topic is brought up: opinions on what we dislike. oleh that I mean which anime series/character we dislike the most. And while I don't really have a problem with these types of pertanyaan atau others opinions, it's the way some people word their opinions. And the reactions. Instead of just stating their opinion, some tend to insult and trash-talk on something and maybe also those who like those types of things. And while it isn't as bad as in other sites are (trust me, I've been there 😨), if this keeps going on, it'll turn into a chaotic club like other sites already are. We're still in time to keep that from happening.

But in order for that to happen, people need to stop with the insults. Some just mindlessly call series/characters things such as 'overrated', 'useless', and 'terrible' simply because they don't like it. atau maybe because berkata series is populer (such as One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, DBZ, etc.) and some people are just followers jumping on a bandwagon. To me, that is just immature -_- oleh the way, speaking of 'overrated', there's this really good artikel oleh zanhar1 that explains an analysis on that term. People nowadays blindly use the term without really knowing much about it. Here it is right here:

I'm not trying to force down my opinion down anyones throat nor am I saying I am completely innocent in this. In the past I've also berkata some things I probably shouldn't have and used those exact terms too. But I was young & clueless and have realized that is not the way to solve problems. That's why I moved here on fanpop to start all over again. All I'm doing is stating MY opinion. If anyone here wants to gabung me, then good. If not, then I can't force anda to. Everyone has their own opunion and choices. I know that I can't change everything on here. Afterall, I'm just 1 person in what? 28,000 something people? But I know that if each person tries to be lebih tolerable and not rage atau bash on things, then it will work!

Not trying to sound cheesy atau anything, but if we all just try to be a little lebih tolerant towards others opinions, then there will be one less problem to worry about. It's not cool to say "This series/character sucks" atau "I don't care" atau any of that stuff. Not everyone is gonna have the same opinion as us and we're going to have to respect that! If anda really 'hate' something, then just rage about it in a private place with a group of people who agree and not in public. That would just start a flame 🔥 war. I would suggest to RESPECTFULLY state your opinion on what anda dislike when asked in public. Don't treat others bad atau unimportant because they like something anda don't!

Woah, I sure wrote a lot for my first article! :O
From now on, I'm going to start to act out what I wrote and ignore any haters that might come my way. Maybe warn them once if it gets too bad. The rest is up to ya'll. Afterall, there will always be haters in our lives. We can't get rid of them completly. Haters gonna hate.

PeacefulCritic @Candy A rude comment would be bashing the creator or saying things like "The fans are idiots for liking something".Saying something is overrated and doesn't deserve the attention is in no way rude or disrespectful to anyone. It's just stating an opinion.I do agree phrasing your opinion is important when being respectful. I just don't think it's rude to say something is overrated because it's just stating "I don't like this unexplained thing about it". Again how is that rude? @Wanta Oh, I guess I can see that as a problem, but I don't really agree with the examples he is giving to present it.Though again I don't count bashing one show as a problem, unless it's involving others to insult them. If one insult the whole thing they are a fan of and still claim that they are a fan of it. That's annoying, still not rude, but highly annoying and misleading.However bashing one show isn't a problem as long as you still find a lot positives in the thing you are acclaiming to like. Honestly I don't know anyone who will acclaims something is the worst thing ever and say that they are a fan of it.

candylover246 @PeacefulCritic. I would first suggest reading the article by zanhar1 on the term 'overrated'. In MY opinion, just calling something 'overrated' because you don't like it means calling said thing 'undeserved of being liked the way it is'. While bashing on the fans or the creator is rude, calling something undeserved to be loved is not in any way better. The creator of said manga/anime worked hard on their work and then repeatedly calling it 'overrated' and insulting it is kinda rude. Just try putting yourself in their shoes! 👞 @BlindBandit92. Oh ok. PeacefulCritic @Candy Here's my opinion on overrated(took the comment from the poll Zanhar1 made about the word "overrated"): "I don't really care for the term to be honest.I do use it a lot when talking about something that gets a good amount of attention. Like for example: Many people say SAO is overrated because it lacks good main characters and have plot holes in them. Same is said for Frozen. To clear it up overrated means:"Something that has a higher opinion of (someone or something) than is deserved." So the term is used correctly most of the time. I personally don't mind the word.It's overused and there are moments when it's used incorrectly, but it's very rare that it's used badly. Because there isn't anything especially wrong with the word overrated and it's a hard word misuse by accident. When someone say Frozen is overrated they are going to make a reason to why it doesn't deserve the attention it gets.Which is where the term is mostly used.Now if I disagree with that and say I think it's perfectly rated; I mean I agree with how something is rated.So in a way I do disagree when you said that dislike and overrated aren't connected.Because the two words are very connected when talking about something that doesn't deserve the love it gets.I do in fact agree that it's used subjectively, but when it's used that way people are explaining why something is overrated. candylover246 @PeacefulCritic. *sigh* Overrated might not even be a thing! There are just so many connotations for it that it is sometimes used incorrectly. It's just used a lot sometimes to describe something you don't like. I never said that disliking something is not related to using the term overrated. They are! I'm not forbidding you or anyone to not use it. That's on you. It's just that some series receive more attention than others. We can't do anything about that. And yeah, overreacting fans are immature, but if the person stating the opinion is just throwing insults, then they are too. Trash-talking on something is rude, NOT criticizing something. When did I say that? And the 'millionare creator' is not going to care about haters of course. But it makes the haters look bad and they cause flame wars and disrupt the peace for the fans. Listen, we might not agree on one thing, afterall this is MY opinion! So let's just agree to disagree, hm?

PeacefulCritic @Candy lol I never said anything about getting in fights in the past.I just said " it's best if we end it here so we don't get into any fights" To imply if we stay up too late we might get cranky and inpatient. Now that you brought it up though. Yeah I do get into fights once and awhile because of late night debates(sometimes) or if I think someone is offending someone else or myself. Though if someone tells me if I'm in the wrong and I see if I am, I will apologize for it.

Knight_Sentinel I agree with this article, especially with the use of the "sucks" word. That's just rude and offensive. If you don't like something, that's cool, but at least give a reason (ie characters are poorly developed, bad plot etc).

dontmindmeyo If they're saying their opinion on something, that's fine, I won't judge. If they're shoving their opinion down someone else's throat, yeah I'm gonna be upset with that. I do disagree with the thing you said about shows being overrated. If a show is hyped up and you watch it and end up disappointed as to how it turned out, of course you'd call it overrated. That's the definition. Others may not agree, but that's why it's called an opinion. Opinions vary from person to person. Instead of trying to stop people from expressing their opinions, I think it'd be better to stop people from insulting others for having said opinions. People don't have the responsibility to explain why they dislike things. Sometimes people don't even have a reason. They just do. And that's perfectly fine. People should accept others' opinions and just move on imo. no need for insulting people for feeling a certain way or forcing people to think a certain way ,,,hope that wasnt out of line for me to say or anything

candylover246 @dontmindmeyo. As I already said, expressing opinions is fine, not mindless insults nor forcing others to think the same. When someone doesn't like something, the most obvious & common word they would use for it is the word 'overrated' for lack of a better term.Some series that are more 'hyped up' than others will always be targets to be called overrated. If you're disappointed from watching a popular series and call it 'overrated', that doesn't automatically make it overrated. Some people will like it while others won't. Overrated is such a vague and subjective term which is mostly used as an insult/dislike towards something. It mostly means something that is too 'hyped' and doesn't deserve that much attention as it does. But honestly, who are we to decide the amount of attention a series should receive or not? But I am NOT forbidding you or anyone to use it. I clearly stated as a main point to cut back the insults, but not expressing opinions. I do not know where you got that -_- And while people don't have the 'responsibility' to explain their negative opinions, it is better to just have a brief reason than just an insult. There is ALWAYS a reason why you dislike something. You don't just see a stranger and say, "Oh I don't like him/her!" immediately. My point was to prevent this club from becoming a chaos like other sites are! But yeah, thanks for you opinion, I guess.

x-Yumi-x3 I never liked the term overrated. Anyway, I agree kinda. This article won't change much tho, most of the people who say things like 'this anime is stupid' are usually the people who are very ignorant.

YaoiLover555 I think people should be able to say their opinions if they are able to justify them. But I think they should also have the right not to have their opinions be called immature or ignorant by other people, unless they also have a justification. So both sides are to blame. So agree with this article in that you should recognise that not tolerating other people's opinions is as bad if not worse than people stating their own negative opinions. As a Christian I'm very used to this... I don't shove my beliefs down other people's throats... but I get attacked for them anyway. I hope you understand the point I'm trying to make. (Wow I had to edit that a lot so that it made sense, I'm way too tired for this xD)

x-Yumi-x3 I guess the word ignorant wasn't the word to use, without my words sounding harsh. I sat there thinking for a few minutes and that's the only word I could think of at the time. I'm pretty straight forward when it comes to things.

SkittleJerky14 Overrated as an adjective, actually means one thing. That something was or is 'rated' excessively. Literally in the word. I have no idea what all this debate was for when really you could have explained it so simply. Now, if you call me ignorant or stupid or whatever, remember that I'm not the one who was debating the meaning of a word. On another note, I can completely agree with this. People being rude is one of my pet peeves. I hate it. So, everyone is more aware, this is a good article.
