Used to have milk and sugar but then I saw the light.

Force yourself to have it without sugar a few times and you'll never go back to that abomination again. Tea needs no contaminants.

Tea is a fine art with a delicate balance between all of the ingredients, otherwise it's just leafwater, forest mud, the beverage of savages

ALSO
I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO ASK
Is it true that many American households don't have kettles?? That water is boiled in the microwave instead???

Because that would be the true savagery.

^I'm American and I don't think I've ever seen a kettle in person in a modern household.

We have kettles, we've just upgraded to electric ones, usually attached to coffee makers

I personally have an enamelware kettle, but my kitchen is all enamelware and cast iron

Some of it depends on region too. I live in the Southwest and sweet tea is kind of a big thing here. We'll typically boil water in bulk, and pour it in a jug with sugar and about 10 or 12 tea bags.

I have my tea in a variety of ways, but usually it's Earl Grey with milk and sugar. I also like it with a slice of lemon or just by itself.
Green tea is different though. I don't mix it with anything ever and I prepare it a not differently from black tea.

@PrincesTale
I'm American and I have a proper kettle, but I also use a pot and drink from bone china and read tea magazines. None of which are common in America. We exist, but we're not the norm. Even the electric kettles Mauser was talking about aren't common.
Most people that do drink tea make it from the water from a coffee pot, or drink iced tea which is usually made in bulk. I've never personally met someone that makes it in a microwave, but I'm sure they exist and that angers me.

Sorry I never got to reply to this because I was MIA for like 2 weeks.

^"I have a proper kettle, but I also use a pot and drink from bone china and read tea magazines" omg that's beautiful though :') A proper kettle? So like you put it on the stove or something? Coz when I said 'kettle' I meant dodgy electric kettles lol. I've never seen non-electric kettles even here.

The thought of microwaving water for tea makes me mad also >:/

@mauser that actually sounds delicious lol.

^Yeah, I mean a stove top kettle. It's even decorated with flowers.

That's it.

I think electric kettles are kind of cool too though. There was always one in a catalog I used to get that I always wanted but I don't know of they sell it anymore.
