This is a movie I had no interest in seeing. I was worried having an entire film about Joker will kinda ruin the character.. But the fact the film is rated R does imply I'm probably wrong.

But after I saw Chris Stuckmann's spoiler review. There is a interesting thing he spoke about, that I want throw in my own 2 cents about.

Before this film was even released. There were 2 things that people were worried about. Sympathizing with Joker. And the violence on screen.

Firstly, Chris says this isn't even the most violent film he's seen. He actually states Deadpool is lebih violent than this movie. But everyone berkata it's fine because Deadpool makes jokes about it.. "just like Joker".

The other is.. From what he also says. We don't sympathize with Joker.. Well, we do, but it doesn't excuse what he does.. It just explains "why" he'll do these things.. And besides, this is Joker, people are akting shocked that Joker is doing fucked up shit. It's fucking Joker. He's the same man who allowed someone to rip off Joker's face.. And tricked childrun into eating poison.. Both "just for kicks"..

People have been blaming the media for violence for decades.. Just because Joker enjoys killing (which in itself is nothing new), suddenly this movie is "dangerious" and "harmful to society".

The only plus about this, is it does make me want to watch the movie. If Troy (my cousin) still wants see it, I'll probably go with him.. atau see it on my own, I don't know.. Be hard, as it's not something I'll take mom too, and I can't drive..

So, yeah.. Not really mad. Just annoyed that this is happening again.. But if anyone sees the movie, please tell me if it's good. I do cinta the Joker as a character.. He's so interesting..

Zeppie The movie is incredible, do go see it. The braindead criticism it is receiving for being too depressing, dark or encouraging copy cat behaviour is beyond ridiculous. Mainstream media will always find a new scapegoat to unload all their fears and judgements on. Whether that be music, video games or comics causing real life violence, its all the same. It's blanket statement fear mongering. The film is brilliant. My favourite film I have watched this year.

zanhar1 I just talked about this over on tumblr. [i]I just saw that movie and everything about it from the lighting to the musical score portrayed what he was doing as both evil and sad. Nothing about that movie portrayed the violence in a positive light. I’m pretty certain that the whole point of Joker was to show people what can happen if mental illness is untreated and/or the person with the disorder is constantly abused and mistreated. The whole movie was in protest against the way society handles mental illness/treats the mentally ill as well as what poverty can do to people. There were so many scenes showing how poverty and hopelessness leads to crime. How upper class folk treating lower class folk like shit leads to violence. How desperation and sorrow can lead to rage and hate. Towards the end (spoilers for those who still want to watch) the Joker literally turns to the camera and says that the reason he’s confessing to murder and committing more of it is because he has literally nothing else to lose. Tbh I only went to see this movie because my dad wanted to see it. I didn’t think that I’d like it but I ended up really enjoying it. It was very tense and very sad. One of the most emotion evoking movies I’ve seen in a while because I could see in it, some parallels to awful shit that actually happens in the world. TL;DR this movie isn’t condoning violence. It’s (as OP noted) a warning. A movie made to remind people that mentally ill people are still people and should be treated with compassion and should be helped rather than scorned and kicked when they’re already down. That poor folks should be treated with humanity.[/i]

zanhar1 As I said in that comment. I didn't even really want to see the movie (as I have very little interest in superhero franchises) but that movie blew me away. Like it was a powerful movie. I was expecting your typical hyper-violent action-pack crap. While it was violent and action packed it was really rather deep and when the movie ended there was just this silence it the theater. It was a good watch and it gives you a lot to ponder.
