The Building of Hell

In it's original state of being, Hell was an empty space, a void vacant of anything but the souls of the damned and a primadorial being named Hades who watched over the souls. Many of those in the Heavens believed for this place for an object, when thrown into here, would vanish into nothingness and thus become part of the empty void that it was. Because of this, Hell originally had the name "The Void" and it was used to store away unwanted beings and threats that Heaven did not like.

With Lucifer being banished to "The Void," it became known by only him and Hades that what had been known of "The Void" was false. The void was not entirely empty as a primadorial man lived within there. A short while later, the Earthly monster Leviathan was banished for his crazed rampages and thus the three founders of Hell were banished into the bland landscape known as "The Void." Very little seemed to be able to be done by the three of them, but that would soon be changed as humans were created.

As humans began to appear on earth and their souls came to fruitations, humans began to sin and emit an energy that managed to seep into “The Void”. Hades was able to use this energy to further corrupt already damned souls and empower fallen angels. Upon doing this, seven remarkably strong demons were formed, each representing one of the Seven Deadly Sins, and each creating their layer of Hell. Soon more angels fell, more humans were damned, and more souls were corrupted, eventually growing out the create the variety of demons known today.

The original Commanders were Satan (pride), Mammon (greed), Asmoedus (lust), Leviathan (envy), Beelzebub (gluttony), Hades (wrath), and Belphegor (sloth).

The Structure of Hell

Hell is structured in nine different layers. The layers go as follow:

First Circle: Surface

Second Circle: Sloth

Third Circle: Envy

Fourth Circle: Gluttony

Fifth Circle: Lust

Sixth Circle: Greed

Seventh Circle: Wrath

Eighth Circle: Pride

Ninth Circle: Treacherous

The Purpose of Demon Lords

As Hell developed and demons began to fill the once empty void, it began to grow on Heaven's radar. Soon enough, Heaven took notice and saw that not only has Satan and everything else they thrown down there not disappeared, but every dangerous threat had only continued to grow and, in some cases, multiplied. With this, Hell was officially changed from being known as "The Void" to being known as the Hell we know today.

In an attempt to get rid of the threat they had unknowingly let grow for so many years, Heaven quickly attacked Hell, dealing massive damage on it before they were forced out of Hell by the demons who stood up to fight. With this, Satan, Hades, and Leviathan got together and decided what was needed was to create a defensive line to protect Hell from further attacks in the future. With that, they choose two of the strongest and most fitting demons alive at the time and with that, Hades, Leviathan, Beelzebub, and Asmoedus took to create the title of "Demon Lords."

As Demon Lords, they were set to protect the newest and final layer of Hell, the surface of Hell. On the surface of Hell, there would be four sectors, each demon lord ruling one with a center for Satan himself. Each of the Demon Lords linked themselves to a special structure in the center of Satan's Sector to create a lock on Hell, one that kept all holy and unknown creatures well out of Hell. To ensure that this lock would hold strong, the Demon Lords were specifically picked to cover four of the basic strengths needed in war. The Strength of the Body, The Strength of the Mind, The Strength of the Soul, and The Strength of the Whole. 

As the years passed, when one Demon Lord died, their soul would fail to continue on with the cycle of life due to the spell and linkage to the lock and will be forced to stay in the Limbo. Instead, their soul will link to two possible heirs whom will be able to communicate on occasions within the soulscape. Once a single successor has been selected and officially given the placement as Demon Lord, the soul of the passed demon lord and the new one will fuse and the connection to the failed successor will be cut off.
