I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Game of Thrones reportedly eyeing a location in northern Spain | Watchers on the dinding | A Game of Thrones Community for Breaking News, Casting, and Commentary
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Season 6 is over, and we’re back to looking ahead at the next season of
Today we have some season 7 locations news for you, out of Spain.
reports that the town of Zumaia, in the northern part of Spain will be a new location for season 7. Itzurun Beach is the specific location
is reportedly interested in. Representatives of Fresco Films (who handle production services for
in Spain) have been scouting the area and are searching for accommodations.
‘s sources don’t have official confirmation yet, but say that it should be coming “in the near future.” Filming could begin in September, if the source is correct.
Itzurun Beach is a beautiful area that has unique geological features called “flysch,” striated layers of rock, in addition to more typical beach sand areas.
There is no news as to which storyline this location could be used for, so we’re left to speculate at this point.
has used several of the Northern Irish beaches, so it’s not too surprising they might want to expand into other countries. The terrain is not too different from what we’ve seen of Westeros coastlines, shot in in Northern Ireland.
Is this another Westeros site? Perhaps someplace unique like Dragonstone since Daenerys is on the move and has to land somewhere- why not her birthplace? Or will Dany or Euron’s ships brings them to places other than Westeros before we finally get that arrival in Westeros that we’ve been waiting for, for so long. Or something else altogether!

Game of Thrones coming to the Basque Country? Hopefully it pans out. At last, I could visit the set with little difficulty. It would be a dream come true! 🙂
It could be the Iron Islands if next time we see Euron he’s still there. If not, it could be Dragonstone or the Stormlands or wherever Daenerys lands.
The last picture made me place Storm’s End inmediately there…
It must be dragon stone for sure..those layers of rocks made me think dragonstone even before you mentioned it below ..
Dragonstone is the place that makes the most sense for dany to land .some of the ships may land in dorne if there is not space ..
We need dany tyrion beside the wesreros table ( which was spoiled by mel and stannis ) and send ravens to the Lords and ladies of westeros from there ..
I love his enthusiasm for the show and Ned. He seems like a great guy.
They’ve already shown Dragonstone beaches, so while it does look like would make the most sense, because it looks awesome, I’m going to throw my hat into the Casterly Rock crowd. Jamie might need to go there.
Zumaia is like half an hour away for me, it’d be rather easy to visit the set… well, to get close to it, anyway. After all, Game of Thrones protects its filming locations fiercely. Hopefully, I can sneak in somehow 😛
They’ve already shown Dragonstone in the show, so it would be a hard sell to change up the location. Plus I don’t think it makes military sense for Dany to go there. Her army is much more dangerous in open lands than in an amphibious assault, and she has two large land powers in Westeros on her side.
Uuuh, good idea. I’ve always wanted one, that’s for sure.
Dragonstone, Storm Ends or II/Some other islands Euron takes.
I think its wasteof time spending time speaking about logistics and
Time..before season people were against the idea of all dothraki going to westeros. .look what happened .
Dragon stone is the place she is born ..the place of dragons and her ancestors …it holds a value to her and place in her heart..and since she is aegon the conqueror with tits she will be doing what he did at the start of his campaign..
And lastly I really need a scene of dany standing beside the table of westeros which aegon had painted for his conquest..
Infact i am starting to believe that may be the ending of episode 1 or 2
So strange to get back to the good’ol off-season habits…. 🙂
My money is on dragonstone.Dany could make that her base and start her invasion from there Aegon-style
What about the Far West – what lies further west than Westeros….its the edge of the world!!
OT: Why did Arya mention that anyway – i didn’t read any discussions after that ep so sont know what the Fan’s Verdict was???
They’ve already shown Dragonstone in the show, so it would be a hard sell to change up the location.
The Sept of Baelor looked different in pretty much every season, so I don’t think the show is going to be concerned about changing up some beaches that we saw maybe 2-3 times, and not since Season 4.
Maybe it’s Casterly Rock. We’ve yet to see it in the books or show.
This is torture!!!!! They never stop scouting locations close to France, but they NEVER shoot here… Last year was Girona and now Basque country! 🙁
My first thought is Dragonstone too. Will it be possible for all those ships to land there though? The island is not really equipped to accommodate that number of people or ships, unless Dany breaks up her army.
I don’t know if anybody would be interested in Storm’s End now. Who is holding the castle on the show right now?
You could use the good old video camera if you can get close enough 🙂 .
The show never addressed Storm’s End, so probably the Lannisters hold it.
I doubt it’s Storm’s End, since the show hasn’t done anything with that location until now. It wouldn’t hold much narrative weight.
Which is no where similar to what we had seen in the previous season.
Dany will land in Dorne i’d of thought.. pick up the rest of her forces. Could be a Dornish coastline?
Most likely Dragonstone beach. I expect this will be the Queen’s Landing spot. Why?
– Dany was born at Dragonstone and belonged to her family.
– Dragonstone is already established in the show and even in the opening credits.
Other candidates: Storm’s End, Dorne. Not very likely. Dany has no need to go to Dorne: it already pledged itself to her (as Dorne in the show exists of 4 people, a few guards and one palace). The Stormlands are more or less forgotten about.
Or it could be something involving Euron and the west coast of Westeros.
No way, Dany can fit all her people on Dragonstone. She’ll probably land in Dorne and start from there.

I don’t think so. What is the advantage of going to Dorne first? The region already pledged itself to her cause. Furthermore, it is an region that is more or less isolated from the rest of Westeros and heading through the Red Mountains will only slow them down. Dany has the momentum to act, instead of wait and let herself slow down (again).
The Tyrell and Dornish troops could join their forces without her (the show gave us Randyll Tarly after all) and march for King’s Landing, while she sails to either Dragonstone or Storm’s End (most likely the former) and plan her naval assault from there.
I hope this doesn’t mean they won’t use the Canary Islands. Though I’ve never been anywhere close to there, my ancestors came from there so I would get a bit of a trill out of seeing it on GoT.
It is GoT. Do we really think Dany will just arrive with that whole army in tact? Where’s the fun in that? I predict a serious storm coming…like the one that once hit the Persians.
I wonder what Olenna’s role will be in the wars to come. A place in Dany’s small council? If so then we have Tyrion, Varys, Missadei, Olenna and Elaria…

My money is on the Stormlands. From a tactical point of view it is the best place for Dany’s fleet to meet up with both the Tyrell & Dornish land forces, whilst allowing the fleet to the continue into Blackwater Bay.
With the alliances with Dorne & the Reach there is little point in regrouping on Dragonstone, it splits the forces up. Disembarking in Dorne leaves the land forces with a much longer march.
Plus an invasion of the Stormlands merges another part of the books into the plot!

Agreed. If Dany doesn’t experience some kind of resistance, then this is going to be a pretty horrendously boring story. And don’t forget, there’s Euron Ex Machina waiting out there somewhere.
Off topic but it seems Season 7’s directors list is out already.
She is stormborn .. Euron can bring all the storm he want it wont matter to DAENERYS JELMAZMO
I really hope–despite there being no Aegon–that this is a chance for the show to finally give us Storm’s End…It could make for a good base of operations for Dany and the show can reflect on the death of the Baratheon line.

OT Just saw on the news here that Liam Cunningham and Maisie Williams are in my country, Greece, on the island of Lesbos, helping the numerous refugees and playing with the children. They’re not just great actors but amazing people as well. Love and admire them both.
Alan Taylor is awesome news. But shame that Miguel Sapochnik or David Nutter are not going to be in next season.

I think whether storm or somehow Euron will find a way. It will be interesting how much of a threat he’ll be and he needs to be. Otherwise it would be boring. Same as Cersei. Daeny has superior numbers and three dragons. Her army needs to be a bit smaller when she fights white walkers.
A bit disappointing that Miguel Sapochnik won’t be back next season, looking forward to Alan Taylor returning. Mark Mylod, ehh.
Besides, from the writers’ comments, it looks like next season is going to be Dany centric.
I guess they’re saving Miguel for Season 8, but he really should be directing everything.
My money is on the beaches of Dorne, where Dany and crew will land and make camp.
Dragonstone. Not for Dany. But for harvesting Obsidian. Stannis name-dropped obsidian on Dragonstone in Season 5.
Good and not so good news. But here’s hoping Miguel returns for the final episodes of the series. (No offence to any of the other great directors meant)
Besides, from the writers’ comments, it looks like next season is going to be Dany centric.
Anyone expected anything different? Daeny is in Westeros and that’s a huge deal for fans and story. If we’re going to get two shorthanded seasons, give us as much as Daeny as they could. It will be fun and interesting storyline.
Interesting words by benioff there .. She summers in essos ..
It really depends on the purpose that army is intended …GRRm is not going to give that many numbers just have to drown in middle of voyage..
Why can’t we wait till we see how those numbers come into play before calling it as boring
It’s tough to anticipate her strategy. Frankly, with a 100,000+ strong land force, mostly mounted, the forces of Highgarden and Sunspear attacking at the same time from the southwest, and air superiority, it hardly matters unless she faces major losses at sea before arriving. Stannis would have taken King’s Landing with 1/5 of what Daenerys is bringing to the table, without dragons, if not for the last-minute save from the Tyrell reinforcements, and the Lannisters have no more allies. Their army alone cannot defend the city.
The conquest seems pretty much assured. The interesting questions are what sort of wrench does Euron throw in all this, does Cersei just burn down the rest of the city rather than let it be taken, how does the North react (Mormonts and Glovers in particular are going to find it much, much harder to accept working with Theon and Yara than anyone ever had fighting alongside wildlings), will the Lannister forces retreat to the Westerlands or just give up? And of course, what role does the Army of the Dead play. Daenerys may badly outnumber Cersei’s remaining forces, but nobody can outnumber an army that grows exponentially every time it fights a battle. Something other than military strength will be required to win. Even dragons can’t destroy millions of wights faster than they can kill whatever is left of humanity.
I liked Mylod’s direction in episode 7, in 8 uhh not so much. Excited for everyone else, especially the newcomer and Alan Taylor! Bring us season 7 news noooow
Very excited if some cast members come here 😀
Its one of the three setpieces George spanned his entire series ..
I just hope they give her some good dialogue and scenes that show her Human side.
I know some people aren’t thrilled about Mark Mylod returning. But I think the problem with his episodes lay in the overall plot of those characters, not in his directing. He also gave us one Hell of a chase sequence, both he and Cogman were givin’ the least interesting episode to work with.
Mark Mylod… I really consider him among the poorest directors GoT has ever had. I really don’t have a clue why they let him come back to ruin more storylines next year.
5×03 and 5×04 were kind of mediocre episodes. I liked “The Broken Man”, but the incredibly dissappointing “No One” sort of ruined Season 6 for me… until Sapochnik came and saved the day with two of the best episodes of the show’s history.

I remember Maisie Williams giving an interview about that chase sequence. She stated that the director wanted an even crazier sequence and she felt that was kind of unnecessary. Furthermore, I cannot stand his defense on the Blackfish dying offscreen and how he felt nothing about showing his death onscreen. Ofcourse he is not entirely to blame, but from what I have seen of this director is that his episodes are either unimpressive or contentious.
I’m really in love with Season 6, but only talking about 6×08 makes me angry again. Such an anticlimatic, chaotic and inconsistent episode in between some true gems the past season has given us.
Glad to see Alan Taylor return. And welcome to Matt Shakman.
Miguel Sapochnik is probably burned out – he pretty much directed a tent-pole blockbuster movie with “Bastards” and “Winter”. I think he’ll definitely return for S8.
Good to see Michele Clapton come back too.
No One was well structured visually. Its problems were mainly in the narrative. They just wanted to sort out the RLs in season 6 in just one episode with Jaimie so that in S7 this area will be taken over by Arya, the Hound and Mel+BwB. And therefore felt a bit disconnected. But I think that the Jaimie and BF scenes were great as well as Briene’s with Jaimie. Braavos was also very strong…
It’s for Sothoryos! They’ve sailed the wrong direction!! Eh, she can add some brindled men to her forces. Seriously though, I don’t know that this location would work for Casterly Rock but it sure would be nice to see in the show. There’s so much mention of it in the show and books yet nothing ever happens there. —————
I’d think sailing the fleet into the Sea of Dorne on the coast of allied Dorne makes sense for Daenerys. They can disembark, have supplies, shelter, etc. and base from there. However, she has the numbers that she could divide her forces and beach at a few locations, but she has a bit of a problem (at the moment) in doing so. Without Jorah or Barriston she has fewer command personnel that are familiar with Westeros. She really only has Yara and Theon unless a Tyrell or Martell battle commander is introduced and trusted. In that case maybe Storm’s End and Dragonstone can be considered eventually. A large contingent sent up the river to Highgarden makes a lot of sense of course.
Exactly what I was thinking. Dany and co. mentioned landing there in the finale.
I don’t care where it is, but it is good that they are location-hunting for beaches. I means that Dany will land
, or that we’ll get scene set at Casterly Rock, Storm’s End or Starfall.
The final scene was pretty amazing, but I am a bit uneasy about
Euron and the sea of blood vision from the Forsaken chapter. In the books it must be the Redwyne or Hightower fleet that he will burn,
but I wonder if Dany should have split her armada for safety. I hope D&D won’t have us wait 6 seasons for Dany to set sail to Westeros only to have her lose half her army and perhaps a dragon as well due to Euron’s interference.
It depends on if by crazier she means an intense fight in the dark ending with a face being peeled off.

Clob: Without Jorah or Barriston she has fewer command personnel that are familiar with Westeros. She really only has Yara and Theon unless a Tyrell or Martell battle commander is introduced and trusted. In that case maybe Storm’s End and Dragonstone can be considered eventually.
Good point. She has absolutely no one in her team who is good at leading armies on land. The Ironborn can handle naval battles. The Dothraki can wreak havoc in Crownlands and Riverlands, but they will not be of help in a siege (say Storm’s End or Casterly Rock). Tyrion is good in strategy, but they have no battle commanders to lead them in battle. Tyrion led Blackwater battle because there was no other choice, and I doubt he’d repeat that. Grey Worm is not familiar with Westeros. And I think Randyll Tarly may take Cersei’s side in the battle. If he does not, then Dany has too easy a conquest of the Reach.
Maybe we’ll see Paxter Redwyne (Olenna’s nephew?), Matthis Rowan and some Stormlords next season.
It probably is going to happen. They have to add some tension. If their ships are attacked the Dothraki are useless. What are horse riding barbarians going to do stuck on a ship? I don’t know if she’ll lose a dragon, but I’d bet good money she loses a portion of her army. Yara and/or Theon will probably die in this as well I would guess. Probably Yara.
Casterly Rock was my first thought. Toss up between that and Dragonstone, but based on the fact Dragonstone is so small…well, we shall see, won’t we?
That could be possible. I’d love to see the stormlands in greater depth. Don’t really know who is in charge of Storm’s End these days.
And I think Randyll Tarly may take Cersei’s side in the battle. If he does not, then Dany has too easy a conquest of the Reach.
Why would Tarly ever side with Cersei? He was a Targaryen loyalist during the Rebellion, and while he’s sexist, the choice is between two women. Moreover, his liege House Tyrell has already declared, and a sharp military mind like Tarly’s should be able to see that Cersei’s cause is completely hopeless.
Weeeeell, the Umber’s were supposedly complete Stark loyalists, and we all know how that turned out. I’m hoping he teams up with Dany…but someone has to back Cersei, unless she’s just gonna burn out.
